Now, thanks to Disney Imagineer, Zach Riddley, we are getting a behind-the-scenes look at what parts of the shop will look like.
Riddley recently visited EPCOT and took his followers behind the scenes as he gave a sneak peek at the soon-to-be Creations Shop.
He talked about how color brings designs to life and when creating Creations Shop, that is exactly what Imagineers did. Riddley writes:
Color brings life to design. And bold use of primary colors is a defining feature of #EPCOT.
When looking for color inspiration for the new Creations Shop coming to EPCOT this summer, the Imagineering design team felt it was important to keep the overall space classic and timeless, allowing the mural program and the fantastic merchandise to be the star of the show. Our materials are warm, inviting and precise. But precise doesn’t mean boring. We searched for a way to add calculated pops of color to play on the shop’s themes of creativity and self-expression.
Riddley continued to explain how the Creations Shop will showcase the full spectrum of colors that actually change as people move in and throughout the space — How cool is that?
We couldn’t select just one color – we wanted the full spectrum! As we studied samples, we fell in love with dichroic materials that change as light and people move in and through the space. Today, I’m sharing a first-look at our dichroic resin material fixtures that arrived yesterday. As you can see, they are translucent and color-changing. We plan to use this as accents throughout the shop, adding a dynamic feel to our specialty display fixture and differentiate EPCOT from any other shop across @WaltDisneyWorld.
And, we haven’t forgotten about texture. The addition of aluminum foam panels behind the dichroic resin provides a playful texture and is a unique use of this material (often used in the aerospace and automotive industry).
You can bet you’ll be seeing more of this dichroic treatment across other facets of the design and our EPCOT merchandise in the future.

At this time, we know the new store — Creations Shop — will open sometime this summer along with Club Cool, which you can read more about here. Exact opening dates have not been announced.
Guests can also look forward to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which will debut on Disney World’s 50th anniversary — October 1 — as well as HarmonioUS, a new nighttime spectacular set to debut later this year.
