On May 19, Disney Parks Blog shared more details about merchandise that would be available for Guests at Avengers Campus when the new land opens on June 4 at Disney California Adventure Park. One of those products, the WEB tech Power Band, will allow Guests to have a more interactive and immersive experience while riding WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.

The WEB tech Power Bands will be themed after Marvel Super Heroes Spider-Man, Ghost Spider, Iron Man, and Rescue. The bands will give Guests powers like shooting electro-dynamic webs with the Spider-Man and Ghost Spider ones to shooting repulsor blasts with Iron Man and Rescue Power Bands. The Iron Man and Rescue Power Bands can also be used by Guests at their homes.

It was announced that the base model WEB shooters will cost $35 and to upgrade to the Spider-Man, Ghost Spider, Iron Man, and Rescue models will cost an additional $30. Fans were quick to react to the new Power Bands and their additional cost.
Twitter user Dan Schmidt (@pqswim) did not like the idea of having to pay for a better experience.
So if you BUY something you can get an advantage in the ride. Dumb why not include it for everyone?

While Twitter user Frederick Chambers (@HelmsmanFreddy) reminded Guests of similar items that are available at other theme parks — including interactive wands at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Power Up Bands at Super Nintendo World — VelociClint (@iamcg83) reminded him that those interactive elements can be used throughout the various lands.

It appears that Power Bands will only work on the WEB SLINGER ride — not at other Avengers Campus locations — at this point.
Ok… But hear me out… The wands and power up bands enhance your experience in the ENTIRE LAND. These add-ons are for a single ride… I think that’s the argument a lot of people are making? I am just throwing suggestions out here…

While the WEB Power Bands will only work on the WEB SLINGER ride in Avengers Campus, Disney does say that the Iron Man and Rescue Power Bands can also light up and blast air whenever you want to play with them.

Other fans did not like the fact that you will have to pay up to $65 for the additional Disneyland Resort experience.
So you can buy additional merch to unlock special abilities on the ride? Interesting money grab.

Other social media users were worried about what paying for extras during a ride experience would mean for future theme park rides. Addison (@DAdRobs) said the following on Twitter:
Don’t love the box this opens.

Even if you decide not to purchase the additional WEB Power Band, the technology that Disney is using for its new rides should ensure that you have a great time anyway! Be sure to check out WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure when it opens at Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park when it opens on June 4.
