The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover located inside Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World closed way back in early 2020. In fact, the attraction was closed to Guests in early March even before the temporary park closures.
But now — It looks like we may finally be able to ride the PeopleMover once again as the Walt Disney World President confirmed it will reopen this weekend!

As many of you already know, once the theme parks reopened in mid-July 2020, Guests were hoping to see the PeopleMover open back up with the rest of the attractions, however, this wasn’t the case.
Guests weren’t sure what exactly was happening with this Tomorrowland attraction as Disney didn’t officially close it for refurbishment right away. There was speculation going around that Disney was not running the Magic Kingdom attraction due to the construction work being done on the upcoming Tomorrowland roller coaster, TRON Lightcycle / Run, while others suspected Disney just needed new parts to fix the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.
Still, the work continued, and Guests could see the attraction being tested almost every time they visited the Magic Kingdom in recent months.

Well, after one full year of being closed (plus a few weeks), Guests can once again take the Grand Circle Tour of Tomorrowland very soon as the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is officially reopening this weekend!
The news was confirmed on Instagram by Walt Disney World Resort President Jeff Vahle:
On a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, I stopped by to check in with the Engineering team overseeing the refurbishment of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, previously called the “WEDway PeopleMover” when I first rode it as a teenager. Thrilled that this team has it ready to delight a new generation when it reopens later this weekend!
