Earlier this week, Marvel Studios released a super slick, hyper-stylized poster featuring Sam Wilson with his new red, white, and blue look. His new flight suit clearly drew inspiration from the pages of the comics, rewarding die hard fans of Marvel Comics. Now, the new imagery has replaced previous images that depicted Steve Rogers on the official Marvel Facebook and Twitter profiles for Captain America.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finale finally gave Marvel Cinematic Universe fans something they’ve wanted to see since Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) first passed the torch — and his shield — to fellow Avenger Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) in Avengers: Endgame (2019). That something was seeing the Falcon take flight in a brand new stars-and-stripes vibranium suit as the new Captain America.

Falcon and The Winter Soldier started off the season revealing that Sam Wilson had taken the Captain America shield gifted to him by Steve Rogers and given it to the Smithsonian Institute. The finale, titled “One World, One People”, saw Sam Wilson accepting his destiny as the rightful Captain America, following the other-than-honorable U.S. military discharge of John Walker (Wyatt Russell) who briefly, and quite controversially, held the Cap mantle.

There could be more Falcon and Winter Soldier in store for Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, with the popular series following the journey of Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson as they cope with a post Avengers world rumored to be in line for another season. Earlier this month, in a surprise move, the Disney+ series was submitted to the Emmy awards in the Drama Series categories, rather than the expected Limited Series categories. Sebastian Stan has also stated that he’s ready to play Bucky Barnes again if called on for another go.

A new title card at the conclusion of the Falcon and Winter Soldier finale echoed Sam’s new status, reading Captain America and The Winter Soldier. It’s also officially been announced that Marvel Studios is moving forward with a Captain America 4  project starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Captain America.

With Sam Wilson as the one and only Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s only fitting that Marvel decided to make their commitment Facebook and Twitter official — because if it didn’t happen on social media, did it really even happen?
