Disneyland Resort Theme Park ticket sales began today, but not all fans have had the best luck when attempting to return to the Happiest Place on Earth.

While many hopeful future Guests logged onto the Disneyland Resort website to attempt to purchase tickets early this morning — and were able to join a pre-queue before entering the waiting room — the virtual queue officially opened at approximately 8 a.m. Some fans could move through the virtual queue relatively efficiently and purchase tickets, whether they attempted to log on before 8 a.m. or joined sometime after. One Inside the Magic staff member was among those who successfully secured theme park tickets. But others haven’t been so lucky.

In our experience, our Approximate Wait Time got down to the single digits in the virtual queue for both Disneyland theme park tickets and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa room reservations. Our wait time to purchase tickets got as low as 6 minutes before spiking back up to “more than an hour,” and our wait time to make hotel reservations got as low as one minute before spiking.

Now, just as many other fans are indicating based on their experiences, we can see that both web pages display the Approximate Wait Time as “Recalculating,” giving fans the impression that the website is overwhelmed with so many fans attempting to purchase tickets at once.

Others shared that the website appeared to crash or redirect them once they made it through the virtual queue and attempted to purchase tickets:

I waited in the queue this morning, got in, but every time i tried to buy tickets I got redirected to the know before you go page. And now, back in the queue. PLEASE HELP #Disneyland

Summary of today for #Disneyland fans…

I’m crying, I had four tickets and ready to check out and the site crashed. It’s not that cute to have stitch say “someone at the page” #Disneyland

However, remember that even though it appears that Disneyland fans have overwhelmed ticket sales on the Disneyland Resort website, this doesn’t mean that any theme park tickets are sold out, or reservations are fully booked. Several people have been able to purchase tickets today successfully, but at the time of this article’s publication — before noon PST on Thursday, April 15 — all dates, including the opening day on April 30 and Avengers Campus opening day on June 4, are still available. Note, however, that reservation availability is subject to change.

A few hours after this article was originally published, Disney provided the following update for those still attempting to purchase tickets:

Message last updated: 4:14 PM PT

We are experiencing high demand given the historic nature of the Disneyland Resort’s reopening. To deliver a strong Guest experience, we are deliberately pulsing Guests through the system. Wait times may be several hours or more depending on when you joined the queue. We still have plenty of reservation availability, and we plan to keep the system open throughout the night to accommodate the demand. Please don’t refresh and we will get you through the queue as soon as we can. We know you are just as excited to return to the Disneyland Resort as we are to welcome you back, and we thank you for your patience as we work to accommodate as many Guests as possible.

Note: Since this article was originally published, the Disneyland website appears to be operating smoothly again, with many upcoming Guests being able to secure tickets and others given approximate wait times. Many are still waiting, with the screen displaying a wait time of “more than an hour.”
