For Guests preparing to return to the Disneyland Resort on April 30, there will be some changes to get used to. In order to operate safely during the ongoing pandemic, Disneyland fans will be required to wear face masks (for those ages 2 and up), practice social distancing, and must understand that certain experiences and amenities may be unavailable at this time.
One big difference that has been in place since the Downtown Disney District reopened last summer is the absence of the trams that usually bring park goers from the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking garages. If you are planning to park at one of these garages, then prepare yourself for a bit of a walk, but also be prepared for some magic throughout the Disney tram walkway!

Guests that visited during the special ticketed event, A Touch of Disney, at Disney California Adventure Park got to experience walking the tram route to reach the Park. Now, as the parks get ready to reopen, wearing comfortable shoes will definitely be helpful. As for the walkway itself, the Disneyland Resort has a few surprises with Disney fans in mind.
Disneyland Resort is doing everything they can to make sure Guests feel welcome! The tram walkway is now decked out in fun “Welcome Back!” signage. The signs themselves seem to match the resort’s other “The Magic is Back” marketing and merchandise, with the light blue, navy blue, and white as seen in this Instagram post below from Danny (@just.ask.danny).
But, these colorful new signs aren’t the only thing to look forward to on the Disney tram walkway! It looks as if the Disneyland Resort is also testing some different lighting and even adding some magic, pixie dust, or twinkle lights, along the tram route as well. This new lighting has not been officially announced by Disney, but fans have been able to spot it from their visits to Downtown Disney this week.
These updates to the tram walkway aren’t just to welcome back Guests to the reopening day. The signs and pixie dust are also to welcome back all the hardworking Cast Members for preview days of the Parks prior to the grand reopening!

Although it’s unfortunate that the trams will be missing from the reopening, and will definitely be missed, it’s great to see that the Disneyland Resort is transforming a negative into a positive and sprinkling a little pixie dust and Disney magic along the way!
