We have hit the one-week mark from the grand opening of the special ticketed event know as A Touch of Disney, the critics have officially spoken! Unfortunately, not all has been pixie dust. Returning Guests seem happy to return to the magic, but many have hit a couple of snags with the Disneyland mobile app and the Mobile Order feature.

A Touch of Disney is in full swing at Disney California Adventure Park. This special ticketed event is now in its second week of operation. Thanks to all the hard-working Cast Members that returned for this event, the event has proven successful. However, Guests are still having some issues when it comes to the Disneyland mobile app and Mobile Order service.
A Push for the Disneyland App
In order to comply with CDC regulations and theme park reopening guidelines, there is a big push for touchless and cashless transactions and more use of the Mobile Order system. The resort even released a tweet directed towards Legacy Passholders stating:
Legacy Passholders- For the best experience during your next visit to the Disneyland Resort, be sure to download the latest version of the Disneyland app and log into your Disney account. Can’t wait to see you soon!

Additionally, Legacy Passholders (former Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders) can now access their AP discounts on the Disneyland app — you can read more here.
This should be taken as good news that the Disneyland app is constantly being updated because recently Guests have run into some issues regarding the app and some of its functions.
Mobile Ordering Issues

After the first couple of days of the A Touch of Disney event, Guests were experiencing some issues with the Mobile Order service. Complaints consisted of long wait times even for mobile orders — some even reaching up to an hour and a half wait before receiving a notification to return to a food window.
When we attended opening day for the event, one thing our team noticed was that, at a more popular food cart, the regular register order line moved a lot faster and smoother than the mobile order line.
Even if your Disneyland app showed that your food and beverages were ready, you still had to wait in another long line before receiving your food and beverages. Judging by the social media responses, many other attendees experienced this as well, despite this specially ticketed event welcoming far fewer Guests than the parks admit on a normal, pre-pandemic day of operations. Some Guests had the following to say:

We saw a glimpse of issues like this just after Walt Disney World officially opened back in 2020 as more Mobile Order locations popped up throughout the parks to help with touchless transactions. So, this ultimately leads us to one question: How will Mobile Ordering work when Disneyland does reopen?

Mobile Ordering when Disneyland reopens
Continuing to comply with California’s health and safety protocol, Guests are bound to see more opportunities to use their Disneyland app when the park reopens on April 30 and thereafter.
In preparation for the park reopening, Disney California Adventure has already extended its Mobile Order options throughout the park. Disneyland Park is sure to do the same and expand the availability of Mobile Order throughout the theme park, as well. The resort will have to rely on the official Disneyland app a lot more now, as it will be the safest way to purchase and link tickets, check attraction wait times, place mobile orders, and more.

However, seeing as the app is continuing to undergo improvements and updates to help Guests, we can only hope to expect more efficiency in the near future. This will help Mobile Ordering become much more efficient at helping Guests by ordering ahead, saving time, and limiting contact with others, all while still enjoying the parks. We highly recommend always making sure your Disneyland app is up-to-date before you head to Disneyland Resort property so that you are able to take advantage of all of the features that are available.
