On January 14, Disney announced that they were sunsetting the current Annual Passport program and sending refunds to eligible Annual Passholders. Disney then sent subsequent emails detailing several perks that the newly named Legacy Passholders would be able to take advantage of, including special shopping events and larger discounts that were available Mondays through Thursdays.

While Passholders were still able to go to Downtown Disney and Buena Vista Street and show their physical pass to receive their discount — which is currently in place until April 30, 2021, and will be extended on a rolling basis — their Disneyland pass profile remained blank. Recently, though, some Passholders noticed that their Disneyland app had automatically added their Legacy Passholder status to their profile, but it was not added to everyones.
To rectify this problem, Disney sent out an email to former Annual Passholders (now known as Legacy Passholders) on March 22, informing them of a new way to receive their AP discount and add it to their Disneyland app for in-person use at the Downtown Disney District, the A Touch of Disney event, and at the Disneyland Resort theme parks after they reopen. As mentioned, until new membership offerings are announced, Disneyland Resort plans to allow Legacy Passholders to use their former AP discount while they visit the Disneyland Resort.

The email stated:
Legacy Passholders, there is a new way to validate and process your applicable discounts when shopping or dining at select locations throughout the Disneyland Resort. When linked to your Disney account via the Disneyland app, the new digital discount ticket code can continue your applicable discounts as a Legacy Passholder and will automatically provide applicable discounts when using mobile order and mobile checkout when you visit your #happiestplace.
If you have previously linked your Passport to your Disney account through the Disneyland app, your individual digital discount ticket code should have already been automatically updated to your account. To access the code in the Disneyland app, select “Tickets and Passes.” Check the Disneyland app to confirm if you have already received your digital discount ticket code—if so, you are all set to begin receiving your applicable discounts when visiting the resort.
If you have not received your digital discount ticket yet, please use the code below and follow these easy steps to link it to your account via the Disneyland app.

As indicated above, also included in the email were step-by-step instructions on how Legacy Passholders could upload their unique discount code onto their Disneyland app. If you follow the instructions, your virtual discount ticket should load onto your Disneyland app right away, and it will then be available for use. Keep in mind that the email also informed guests that they may also need to show their Annual Pass and a picture ID or the discount would not be applied.
While Disney has not announced any concrete details on the future of Annual Passes at the Disneyland Resort, we will be keeping an eye out for any further information!
