Disney Parks fans have been itching to once again step foot into the original Disney theme park in California. And as we get closer to a hopeful reopening, Disneyland has taken to Instagram to get future park-goers excited to see Sleeping Beauty Castle in person for the first time in one year.
In case you missed it, Walt Disney Company’s CEO, Bob Chapek, confirmed during the recent shareholder’s meeting that he hopes to have both theme parks at Disneyland Resort ready by end of April, which is getting future Guests very excited. And as we inch closer to April, the team behind the California resort is sharing how thankful they are for the memories Guests have created in the past at the theme parks, and how there are still many memories to be made.
The official Disneyland account posted an encouraging photo to Instagram, which reads “For all the memories we share… and those we still have to make… Thank You. From the Cast of Disneyland Resort “. The image is a standalone photo showcasing the backside of the famous Walt and Mickey statue, with no caption.
And the fan response to this Instagram post is overwhelming! Disneyland fan, Rachel O. (@rachelolaes17) shared that she can’t wait to go back with her daughter:
Thank you!!!!! Cannot wait to bring my daughter for the first time. So cal resident
Tamara D. (@tamara_dehuevanduin) expressed her gratitude for the Disney magic and Cast Members, writing:
Thank you, we’ll keep the magic alive together. Meanwhile stay safe and a virtual Disney hug for all of the cast members
Another Disneyland fan, Tonia (@toniazev), said she cannot wait to make more memories at the theme parks:
Looking forward to making more memories!
And Julianna K. (@juliannakovacs) shared that seeing this post made her very emotional:
Got me tearing up at 10am
One Disneyland Guest, Amanda (@mandymarie_7909), shared how much Disneyland means to her and her family and how she cannot wait to walk through the gates again:
Thank you for the memories. As a family with a special needs kiddo there isn’t much we can do as a family. We don’t get to do movie or game nights, we don’t have those things. But we do have Disneyland, we can’t wait for the day we get to walk through those gates again
Kelli E. (@_kellieng) put it very simply, writing:
Cant wait to be back home again.
With Nick M. (@ifuseeknick) expressing how much he, and other Guests, miss the Cast Members at Disneyland:
We all miss you so much
And lastly, Thomas M. (@kilted_ducky) said it perfectly:
See you real soon
Both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park have remained closed since March 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic. However, just a little while ago, we reported that the major theme parks located within the state of California, including Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood, received positive reopening news as they are now allowed to reopen in tier 2 at 15% limited capacity. Additionally, it is important to note that the theme parks can only host California residents only — no out-of-state Guests are allowed in this first phase of reopening.
Though at this time we do not have an exact reopening date or reopening guidelines for Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure, as previously mentioned, CEO Bob Chapek did confirm during the shareholder’s meeting that he hopes to have both theme parks at Disneyland Resort ready by late April.
We also know that when the parks do reopen, some amenities, including FASTPASS, Disney MaxPass, Magic Morning, and Extra Magic Hour offerings, will be suspended as part of the phased reopening efforts amid the pandemic. This doesn’t come as too much of a surprise since this is very similar to what Walt Disney World Resort did when they reopened their theme parks and hotels in July 2020.
In the meantime, if you are looking to soak up some Disneyland magic, you can head on over to Downtown Disney District, and by extension portions of Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure, as they are currently open to Guests for select outdoor dining and shopping. And in just a few days, Disney California Adventure will be opening up more of its theme park as they will host an event titled A Touch of Disney.
A Touch of Disney will bring Guests a selection of iconic food and beverage items from both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure as well as the opportunity to see Mickey and the gang from a safe social distance!
