Due to the current pandemic, the world has had to adapt to a new norm in order to not only continue normal day-to-day operations, but to do so by keeping everyone safe. Walt Disney World, for example, has had to implement several different safety protocols such as social distancing measures, increased hand sanitizing stations, limited capacity, elimination of certain entertainment offerings, the requirement of face masks, and more.
As Disney World and its theme parks continue learning more about the current situation and what Guests enjoy doing, they continue to move forward and adapt to the new norm, while also keeping some offerings that are fan-favorites for many — Including the paint-by-numbers mural at the EPCOT Festival of the Arts.
Year after year, Guests visiting the Festival of the Arts are able to work together to create an incredible mural — All with paint-by-numbers! However, with the current worldwide situation, Disney World had to re-imagine this annual activity in order to continue moving forward while also giving Guests what they enjoy at the parks.
Paint-by-Numbers Mural in 2021
For the 2021 festival, EPCOT has made some changes in order for Guests to still come together to create a masterpiece all while remaining safe.
To start, you must visit the booth where a Cast Member will be waiting to hand out whichever color paint you would like to choose, which are all in individual containers with specific numbers on the lids.
You will also want to grab a sponge paintbrush, which are in a bin next to the paint. Once you have your paint supplies, the Cast Member will direct you to the mural on the other side of the walkway, where another Cast Member will be waiting.
Once you let the second Cast Member know which color paint you chose, they will direct you to a specific section.
By having separate sections, this allows Guests to take their time painting their numbers in a safe social distance from one another. The Cast Members ensure you are not in a section directly next to another group.
We cannot wait to see what the final masterpiece looks like! Stay tuned to Inside the Magic and we will update with the finalized mural once it’s complete.
