Yesterday, Disney announced that the Jungle Cruise attraction will be getting a major refurbishment, including an overhaul of the storyline. Jungle Cruise is a long-time fan favorite at both Disneyland Park in Disneyland Resort and Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. At this time, there is no word on when the refurbishment will be completed at both parks.
Bob Iger, who not too long ago stepped down from his position as CEO of the Walt Disney Company, took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the changes coming to the attraction.
According to Disney, these planned updates are to help bring more depth to the overall storyline of the Jungle Cruise, while still having the Skippers give out comedic commentary. The refurbishment will also address some parts of the attraction that are outdated and not appropriate for today’s times — A point Disney seems to be addressing in their attractions one by one with the first being the refurbishment of Splash Mountain to The Princess and the Frog. Now, they are implementing this into a second attraction — The Jungle Cruise.
Bob Iger took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the recently announced refurbishment of the Jungle Cruise:
The exciting changes we’re making to one of @Disney’s most popular classic attractions, Jungle Cruise, reflect our commitment to creating unparalleled experiences that reflect, not only the best in storytelling, but also the values and rich diversity of our world.

Disney did confirm that this attraction will not be themed to the Jungle Cruise live-action movie, which has been delayed due to complications. It is currently slated to be released this summer.
Bob Iger is on board with the Jungle Cruise revamp, but what about the fans? Well, while everyone has their own opinions about such a beloved attraction, the online response to the refurbishment of the Jungle Cruise has been mostly positive. You can read some reactions to the Jungle Cruise here.
