If you have been following along with Inside the Magic as we have been tracking VelociCoaster updates, you know that this coaster is on a fast track to its opening day in Summer 2021. Now, we have some more information that has come to us via Universal’s latest concept art on the coaster.
Before this new concept art rendering, we previously only saw one version of the VelociCoaster, pictured below:
From this, we could see the intense rock work and the immersive theme that Universal has been creating — and, looking at the progress on the coaster, the rendition was spot on.
Now, new concept art still shows us the velociraptors — we know to expect at least four life-size dinosaurs on the exterior of the coaster.
This continues to confirm that the velociraptors are still set to have the same attacking look that we saw in the previous concept art. Although we are not sure if the 4 velociraptors are animatronics or not, we do know the coaster has speakers on each seat which could pipe in dinosaur roars. The sound effects in combination with turning a sharp corner and having a dinosaur in your face could potentially be quite scary! We do not know if this is what will happen and have no confirmation of how the velociraptors will behave, but it is a possibility.
We can make a few other predictions about the coaster from this concept art, as well. First, we see that two coasters are running on the track at the same time. This is something that often occurs with roller coasters, but seeing it here means that Jurassic World‘s VelociCoaster will have at least two coasters running at once, which could also lead to a third coaster loading guests at the loading dock. This should ensure a much speedier queue line for the coaster, which will surely boast long wait times due to it being brand new, as well as highly anticipated and publicized.
The second thing to notice here is the fact that in this rendering, all riders have a mask on. This does not give us more information on the coaster, but Universal as a whole. VelociCoaster isn’t slated to open until next summer and, if riders are masked, we can tell that Universal is planning on enforcing mask wear throughout the summer at the current moment — this could, however, change and Universal Orlando officials have given no update on the theme park resort’s face mask policies.
Universal also is sending guests VelociCoaster updates with photos and videos of the attraction that they can download! All you have to do is click here and sign up. We have seen a GoPro mounted on the arm of the coaster, so perhaps insiders will be able to see a POV directly sent to their inbox! This is all speculation at this point, but downloadable material means we will definitely have more official VelociCoaster media photos and/or videos to look at.
