A Disneyland Resort Cast Member has tragically passed away.

Michael was an entertainment Cast Member who performed in the Disneyland Resort parades and brought smiles to Guests’ faces during every shift. Following his passing, a GoFundMe campaign was created in his honor to assist his family during this difficult time.

The description of the GoFundMe reads:

Dear Friends & Family
Michael was loved by so many. So many lives
did he touch with laughter and hope. From
weddings to parades, and phone calls to come in for a shift. He was a friend, brother,
sweetheart, hard worker, best friend, work
husband, son, dancer, singer, and performer.
He was so many things to so many different
people. These funds will go to his family and
hopefully bring some hope at this time.
Michael, it was an honor to be one of your
leads, but to also work along side you. So much
love for you. Rest In Peace

Sam Carter — experience designer, former Disney Creative Entertainment, and WonderGround artist — shared the news on Twitter. Carter had initially implied that Michael’s passing was a result of COVID-19; however, we have since learned that although Michael had contracted COVID-19, he passed away due to heart failure from an underlying condition.

I didn’t know Michael personally, but Disneyland Entertainment is family. Sadly another soul lost to Covid. A performer who may have made you smile on the parade route. Wanted to share his GoFundMe.

Friends, coworkers, and supporters have also taken to social media to share the news:

Fellow Disneyland Cast Member Andi shared this message:

I [did] Flashback at DLR for a couple years. While he was entertainment and I was in parking (people think entertainment CMs are rude and look down on others), he was always so friendly and fun! He will be missed.

Jessica Bill, who knew Michael, shared this message following the news of his passing:

Michael was such a sweet soul in the Disneyland and SoCal theatre communities and sadly taken by this tragic virus. Thanks @Cartarsauce for sharing this GoFundMe page. I’m happy to pass it along. It was a true pleasure knowing him.

At this time, the theme parks of the Disneyland Resort remain temporarily closed as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Southern California remains under a stay-at-home order, and it is not yet clear when Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure park will reopen their gates.
