Is More of Disney California Adventure Opening?

in Disneyland Resort

With Disneyland Resort being closed, we have been cherishing any area that is open. With Downtown Disney District being open — with the restrictions that are necessary in California’ purple COVID-19 tier — and Disney California Adventure’s Buena Vista Street operating as an extension of the shopping and dining district, many Disneyland Guests are waiting to see what more will be added to the open area of Disneyland Resort.

November 19th marked the day that more of Disneyland opened with Buena Vista Street, but now we are looking to see if more areas are going to be involved or opened and added to Downtown Disney.

Paul’s Theme Park Adventures posted this photo on Instagram to show that there are other areas of Disney California Adventure that could open up.

Did a walk through of Buena Vista Street and it looks like they might be getting this popcorn cart at grizzly peak ready for use soon

Inside the Magic can confirm that there is also a pretzel stand in Hollywood Land that looks like it’s also ready to open whenever Disney allows Guests to roam around more of the park. That being said, we know from Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro that Disneyland Resort has been ready to open since July with sanitizers, social distancing markers, and signs –so this may be an another ready-to-go feature of the park. Buena Vista Street already sells popcorn, so this stand wouldn’t really need to be in Buena Vista Street which is why it is catching our attention.

Also, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa has DVC villas opening this weekend. That being said, with Disneyland Resort rooms opening up for the holidays — to Disney Vacation Club Members only — it wouldn’t be too shocking to pull more Guests in by opening up additional areas within Disney California Adventure.

At the moment, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure cannot fully open until Orange County reaches California’s least restrictive, yellow COVID-19 tier. As previously mentioned, Orange County is currently in the most restrictive, purple tier.  That being said, it makes it more believable that Disneyland would want to open more of DCA as Downtown Disney, as that is that the only way to get Guests to see more of the parks at the moment.

We are also starting to see other shops open up for the holidays which just goes to show that Disneyland Resort is truly expanding as much as they can to give Downtown Disney Guests the best possible and most “Disneyland” experience that they can possibly provide, under the current circumstances. As of today, December 3rd, Off The Page is officially back open! The Orange County Register even noted that, “the Off the Page art gallery in Hollywood Land and a Grizzly Peak Airfield popcorn cart opened,” today. It seems that many are picking up on the constant additions that are happening over at Disneyland Resort. With all these carts opening, it seems plausible that more can open in the future and expand the Downtown Disney District further.

It should be noted only stores and restaurants are open in these areas in Downtown Disney at the moment, and if more is opened up, it will not be with attractions.

Do you think Downtown Disney will expand more of Disney California Adventure before the parks are able to open?
