When it was announced that Disney California Adventure’s Buena Vista Street area would be partially reopening for holiday shopping and dining, fans were ecstatic.
This is the first time people will be allowed into any of DCA’s main restaurants and shops — the temporary Backlot Premiere Shop opened in October — since Disneyland Resort temporarily closed on March 14 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Theme park rides and other attractions at both Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Park remain closed due to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s strict reopening guidelines. This hasn’t dampened the festive spirit on Buena Vista Street in the least, however!
The holidays have arrived!
Last week, we reported that Disneyland Cast Members were working to prepare Buena Vista Street for its partial reopening. Now, photos of holiday decorations have surfaced!
Instagram user Megan (@justmousinaround) shared this photo of Los Feliz Five & Dime decked out for the festive season.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas on Buena Vista St.
Rumor has it Downtown Disney will deck the Halls [sic] and it’s exactly the little bit of Cheer [sic] I was needing to hear
Since the stores and restaurants on Buena Vista Street will be officially operating as an extension of the Downtown Disney District, it serves to reason that Downtown Disney will also take its Christmas decorations out of storage in the near future.
Paul (@paulsthemeparkadventures) also took to Instagram to share another view of the garlands that have been hung at Disney California Adventure.
He captioned his photo:
Christmas decorations have finally started going up inside of DCA
@foodatdisneyland also shared the news!
Well well well, would you look here? I’m feeling a little jolly after seeing these decorations on Buena Vista Street in DCA! The only question left is…will or won’t there be a Christmas tree when BVS opens on November 19th? ??
After we initially published this article, an ITM team member visited Downtown Disney and was able to obtain additional photos of the holiday decor on Buena Vista Street.
In the above photo, we see garlands strung up and down the street, adorning every visible building! The three pictures below give us an excellent view of the light posts, which are also decked out in their Christmas best — coiled evergreen garlands and red bows are hung on each fixture!
And later on in the week on November 12, those same Christmas decorations were spotted at night…all lit up!
Disney has announced that the following retail establishments and restaurants will be open to Guests on November 19:
- Elias & Co.
- At Julius Katz & Sons,
- Kingswell Camera Shop
- Trolley Treats
- Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe
- Carthay Circle Lounge,
- Smokejumpers Grill
Do you have plans to visit Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure this holiday season? What are you most looking forward to?
