It’s a very exciting time to be an EPCOT fan as several projects get closer to an opening at the park. While we now know that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has a confirmed opening date of 2021, Disney is beginning to promote the attraction on a more regular basis.
During The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration Thanksgiving special on ABC we got a behind-the-scenes look at what to expect from Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
Joe Vitale, senior production designer at Walt Disney Imagineering had this to say on the upcoming attraction:
The ride is really inspired by a scene in the film where Remy falls through a skylight down onto the floor of Gusteau’s kitchen. Guests are going to feel as if they’ve been shrunk down to the size of a rat so we really play with the fun of scale. You’re going to be chased through the attraction, hide in the walls, there’s vibration effects, scampeting effects, there’s 4D effects in the ride, you’ll get smells from the kitchen. You’ll get water effects, wind effects.

We’ve been lucky enough to ride the attraction over in Disneyland Paris and can tell you, you’re in for a real treat when this opens up in EPCOT. The attraction is largely going to remain the same as its Disneyland Paris counterpart but Disney has put a lot of work into the exterior and surrounding area of the show building so that it fits naturally into the World Showcase France pavilion and doesn’t just copy the exact framework from the Paris version.
