Although an exact filming start date has not been announced, Marvel’s much-anticipated Spider-Man 3 appears to be imminently set to start shooting in Atlanta.
Instagram user @atlanta_filming shared a photo of the Spider-Man 3 set with the caption:
#spiderman set is coming along nicely. And, as you can see, there is no view. There is no view of anything at the stages. Not at TP, not at Trilith, not and any of the stages Marvel is using. 99.9% of all these, Hawkeye, Loki, Ms. Marvel, SpiderMan, is stage. They have gone to great lengths and expense to not risk exposure to COVID.

Production of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie was delayed earlier this year as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic. Now, as filming can finally resume, it appears that the cast and crew will be taking as many health and safety measures as they can to reduce contact.
This has been a common thread throughout Disney’s franchises in recent weeks and months. Avatar director James Cameron has spoken about working on his Avatar 2 sequel remotely and The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau recently discussed how the tech used to bring his Star Wars series to life makes his team uniquely poised for the COVID-19 era.
ComicBook.com has reported that Tom Holland is in Atlanta, ready to begin Spider-Man 3 filming after finishing his work on Uncharted. They wrote:
Spidey has landed in Atlanta. Sunday evening, Spider-Man star Tom Holland shared a video to his Instagram Story of himself deplaning in Atlanta as he found his way to the set of Spider-Man 3. The film itself officially began production earlier this week with second unit photography and now that Holland has arrived, it’s but a matter of time before principal photography gets underway as well. Holland’s co-star Jacob Batalon was captured separately earlier in the day at the airport, also arriving for principal photography.
“We just landed in Atlanta,” Holland said in the video. “And uh…it’s time for Spider-Man 3. Let’s go!”
They also shared details about the upcoming Marvel Studios film:
In addition to Holland and Batalon, Spider-Man 3 will also feature Jamie Foxx as Electro — a role the actor previously played in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 — and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. When we spoke with Batalon earlier this month, the actor expressed excitement at working alongside the likes of Fox and Cumberbatch.
