The D23 Expo Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster announcement was extremely exciting for Marvel fans (and thrill ride fans)!
Even though construction has been delayed or halted on many projects that are part of the EPCOT reimagining, work continues on the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride that will be part of the World Discovery neighborhood, which will also include the interactive Play! Pavilion.
Yesterday, Twitter user @bioreconstruct gave Disney World fans a glimpse of current construction progress on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

In 2018, Disney Parks Blog shared details about the upcoming EPCOT roller coaster ride from current Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek. At the time, Chapek was Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products:
According to Bob, building an adventure this big will require a ride system and ride vehicles unlike anything our guests have experienced before. What guests will encounter can best be described as a one-of-a-kind storytelling coaster that connects the adventure of a storyline with the thrills of a coaster.
“On most coasters, the vehicles point straight ahead throughout the ride,” Bob explained. “But on this attraction, each individual cab will be programmed to direct your eye to the story happening around you.
That means instead of whizzing by the action, you’ll be fully immersed in the story from the minute you launch.”
Disney Parks Blog also shared that, “The attraction will be one of the world’s longest enclosed roller coasters when it opens in Future World at Epcot.” Inside the Magic previously shared a look at the official reveal of the Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster ride vehicles at IAAPA 2018.
At this time, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is still expected to be completed for Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary in 2021.
There is no word on which Guardians of the Galaxy characters will feature most heavily once the roller coaster is finished. On Disney California Adventure park’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout ride, Rocket and Groot have starring roles.
Are you excited to see Starlord, Gamora, and more on the EPCOT Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster? What do you think about this construction update?
