Earlier in the week, we shared that construction work around EPCOT was proceeding as the theme park finally opened its doors to Guests again on July 15.
Well now we are pleased to report that work is progressing nicely on the new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
The construction team at EPCOT are busy installing solar panel mounts onto the roof of the upcoming ride ready for the panels to be fitted. As you can see from some of the photos below, parts of the roof are much closer to completion than others:
While Disney is no stranger to using solar panels in around its theme parks, it’s great that the replacement to Ellen’s Energy Adventure and the Universe of Energy is keeping the tradition of using solar panels on the roof of the building. It doesn’t stop us missing the Energy Pavilion and is obviously a bid to safe money and conserve energy, but part of us thinks it is a nice nod to the EPCOT attractions of old. It also helps with the look of the show building.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is still due to open in 2021 as part of the EPCOT transformation. Although there have been months where no construction work has happened at the park, we haven’t heard anything from Disney that would indicate the opening year has been pushed back. Given Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure seems to have been delayed until at least past summer 2020, it remains to be seen on what this means for Guardians.
