In 2019, EPCOT’s fan-favorite fireworks spectacular, IllumiNations, closed down as an all-new, limited-time fireworks show called EPCOT Forever made its debut.

At D23 Expo in 2019, Bob Chapek spoke about HarmonioUS and stated it would be the “largest nighttime spectacular in Disney history.” HarmoniouUS will be shown over the World Showcase Lagoon, only this show will be even bigger and more epic than anything we’ve seen before at EPCOT.

Due to the current global pandemic, construction on several projects at Disney World had to pause, including Cinderella Castle, TRON, and HarmonioUS. However, it wasn’t long ago that we reported construction resumed on the nighttime spectacular despite not knowing an opening date.

And now, along with the resumption of construction, a permit has just been filed for additional work for the highly anticipated nighttime spectacular. The permit is titled EC Project K, and it is for providing labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.

Though we don’t know much other information regarding the permit, the good news is Disney is continuing to make progress on the new nighttime spectacular at EPCOT.

More On HarmonioUS

When discussing the new EPCOT nighttime spectacular, EPCOT’s general manager Melissa Valiquette said, “When you think about the EPCOT World Showcase and the World Showcase Lagoon, it really has to be the largest spectacular we’ve ever created because we’ve got such a beautiful grand venue for it.”

Walt Disney Imagineering Executive Producer Michael Hundgen also spoke out on the subject saying “Think of it as the latest toolkit with the latest and greatest pyro, projections, fountains and lasers. We’re bringing it to that show. It’s sort of all the bells and whistles.”

“We have custom LED screens that we’ll be utilizing for HarmonioUS,” Disney parks live entertainment producer Jeremy Chase said. “We’ll also be bringing back choreographed fountains that will help tell the story. And we’ll have lasers, lighting and, of course, pyrotechnics.”

“The overall premise is really how music brings people together,” Chase continued. “How Disney music brings the world together.”
