Hong Kong Disneyland Castle of Magical Dreams

Hong Kong Disneyland is ‘reopening shortly’, joining Shanghai Disney Resort and eventually, Walt Disney World.

Theme park fans have much to look forward to when returning Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, but something particularly special is nearing completion.

Castle of Magical Dreams at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

Yes folks, the fabled Castle of Magical Dreams will replace the Sleeping Beauty Castle replica at Hong Kong Disneyland and finally give it its own unique, iconic castle. And it looks like it’s very near the end of its construction period.

This photo from Disney fan @hkmsg_w912 gives us a good look at the transformed castle and boy does it look fantastic. We recently wrote an article about how each park should have its own iconic castle, and the Magical Dreams castle is the perfect new addition to make Hong Kong Disneyland stand out. Check out how beautiful it looks!

The castle is due to open September 5th 2020, though it’s unknown if this date will be pushed back as a result of the pandemic. From the looks of this picture, we’d say it’s on track for that date!

The Magical Dreams Castle is a really unique landmark in Disney theme park history, as it marks the first time that a castle has been replaced; Sleeping Beauty Castle no less! Whether that means that the Cinderella Castle at Tokyo Disneyland (essentially the same as the one at The Magic Kingdom) will also be remodeled remains to be seen.

Unlike other theme park castles, it won’t center around one princess and will instead pay homage to 13 beloved Disney stories centering around each iconic Disney princess. Here are some of the details from the Disney wiki;

‘From the new castle moat and hub area, guests will be able to spot princess-inspired decorations on some spires, such as Snow White’s apple, Cinderella’s coach and Belle’s rose, as well as princess-inspired designs and decorations throughout the castle. To add even more magic and fantasy, the transformed castle area will include original artwork, unique sculptures and designs waiting for guests to find and enjoy. As part of the castle transformation, guests can visit the all-new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which is a magical salon where fairy-godmothers-in-training turn young guests into princesses with makeovers, hairstyling and special outfits. At the transformed castle, guests can also meet different Disney Princesses at different times.

There will also be a new outdoor stage where Hong Kong Disneyland’s daytime show and nighttime spectacular will be held. Both of these new shows will feature awe-inspiring entertainment experiences, and be special moments for friends and loved ones to enjoy together.’

And here is the official press release taken from the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort website;

‘This is the first time that an existing castle in a Disney park has undergone a transformation of this scale, in what is sure to be one of the most momentous, highly-anticipated unveilings at Hong Kong Disneyland. The new thematic towers and spires are now in the process of being lifted into the skies and fitted into place onto the castle base.

The castle’s design is inspired by the stories from some of the most iconic Disney Princesses. The re-imagined castle will pay tribute to each of these Disney heroines for pursuing their dreams. The architectural elements embrace the characteristics of each heroine through the interpretation of colors, icons, patterns and cultural features, with uniquely designed towers, turrets and spires dedicated to their respective stories. Guests will be able to recognize the individual elements inspired by their favorite Disney heroines, celebrating a sense of diversity, inclusion and unity.

With its scheduled opening in 2020, the castle will stand as a shining beacon of courage, hope and possibility, inspiring all who dare to dream big. In addition, there will be a brand new, breath-taking nighttime spectacular as well as a new daytime show, details of which will be unveiled at a later date’.
