Disney Springs is set to open next week with all the necessary health and safety protocols the state of Florida is mandating. One of the specifications shared officially on the Phased Reopening of Disney Springs website update is the requirement of face masks for both Guests and Cast Members.

The official statement states: “Disney Springs will begin to reopen in a way that incorporates enhanced safety measures, including increased cleaning procedures, the use of appropriate face coverings by both Cast Members and Guests, limited-contact Guest Services, and additional safety training for Cast Members. We will apply learnings and ideas from leaders in the health and travel industries, and we’re also talking to our unions as we prepare for some Cast Members to return to work.

Disney fans have taken to social media to vocalize their polarizing opinions on Disney’s face mask requirements.

On Facebook, group pages like the Walt Disney World Resort Annual Passholder group, Annual Passholders – Walt Disney World Resort, have been forced to heavily moderate posts on the subject, turning off commenting because the conversations have turned volatile.

On Twitter, users are taking to the platform to boldly express their opinion on face mask requirements, triggering heated rebuttals from those that don’t agree.

Twitter user @Disney_Dad shared:

Please stay home to all the “I ain’t wearing no masks to WDW” folks. I’ll gladly wear my mask, have my temp checked, wash my hands until they’re dry and cracked, stand 6 ft from people, stay in line longer due to extra space between riders bc I realize SSE doesn’t revolve around me.

This tweet has so far garnered 414 likes so far and over 47 re-tweets, and many comments divisive comments.

Disney Park Officially REMOVES All Face Mask Requirements

People magazine’s official Twitter account shared a photo of a Guest posing with a statue of Walt Disney and Mickey where the Guest is wearing a mask. The captions said: “Disney CEO Says Parks Will’ Likely Require’ Face Masks for Guests and Cast Members When Reopening.”

Twitter user Maria Lopez whose Twitter handle is @zabache, replied to People Magazine’s tweet with this comment: “I LOVE Disney but wearing a mask in August in Florida is a terrible idea. I can’t imagine little kids wearing masks in the heat and humidity.”

Another user, Brian Glenn- @BriManIU, posted: “FWIW, I will not judge anyone who decides to go on the first day of CityWalk or Disney Springs. I will judge if they refuse to comply with face masks and social distancing.”
