News broke this week that a former Walt Disney World Resort Cast Member filed a lawsuit claiming she was harassed while working and was fired after reporting the harassment. Here are the details we know so far regarding the allegations.

According to a report by Click Orlando that cites the lawsuit, the woman worked at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, one of the four theme parks on Disney World property. She worked as a cook at the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant and prepared food for Woody’s Lunch Box quick-service restaurant located in Toy Story Land. She was an employee of Disney Parks and Resorts less than two years ago from May to August, 2018.

The lawsuit alleges that the woman was sexually harassed by a supervising chef while working. The lawsuit also claims that she was inappropriately touched multiple times and she also allegedly felt the brunt of sexual comments made during her shift.

In the lawsuit, the woman claims that after she reported the instances of sexual harassment to upper management at Disney Parks and Resorts, she was met with retaliation and was falsely accused of workplace and safety violations. These accusations led to her being fired from her position at Walt Disney World Resort.

The woman believes that the claims made against her were all forms of retaliation because she reported the harassment. The lawsuit alleges that mistakes in her schedule were purposely made, she did not receive necessary training to complete her job, and she was falsely reported for drug use. Now, she is seeking reimbursement for lost wages and benefits, an award for compensatory and punitive damages, and reinstatement.

At this time, Disney has not come forward with a statement regarding this case or the former employee’s allegations. As this story and lawsuit continues to develop, Inside the Magic will update our article when more information becomes available.
