Heads up, Walt Disney World travelers and Star Wars fans! If you’re booking a trip to visit Walt Disney World, keep this in mind. We’ve just heard that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will not be included in Extra Magic Hours after it opens.

Rise of the Resistance opens next week at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and fans have been planning to visit the theme park for this attraction’s opening ever since it was announced. Many Star Wars enthusiasts were waiting to book their Walt Disney World vacations until after Rise of the Resistance opened, since the new Star Wars land — Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — opened with just one attraction back in August. And now that reports are flooding the internet saying that Cast Members are being told that Rise of the Resistance will be excluded from Extra Magic Hours, this could seriously hinder some vacationers’ touring plans.

Some are speculating that the ride is not currently stable enough to operate for extended periods of time, although right now this is unclear. Disney hasn’t officially announced if Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will have different operating hours than the attractions throughout the rest of the theme park, so right now it seems safe to assume that the attraction will be operating as long as Disney’s Hollywood Studios is open, excluding Extra Magic Hours. We’ll update you if anything changes or we receive more information.

Also keep in mind that FastPass+ is not currently available for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Disney hasn’t yet announced if or when FastPasses will be available for these two Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attractions at Walt Disney World in Florida or at Disneyland in California.

About Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Opening on December 5, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is the most highly-anticipated Walt Disney World attraction since Flight of Passage at Pandora – The World of Avatar, which opened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom back in 2017. Rise of the Resistance is considered to be the most state-of-the-art, technologically advanced, and ambitious attraction at any Disney Park in the U.S.

The attraction puts guests in the middle of a First Order-Resistance battle as though they are new recruits. You will be captured aboard a Star Destroyer, break out of a First Order detention cell, escape from Kylo Ren, and make your way back to the Resistance base on Batuu — hopefully unscathed.

Star Wars fans will love the attraction because it stays true to the feeling of the films (with holographic and audio-animatronic appearances from characters like Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren). Imagineering fans will love it for the technology, innovation, and story. And everyday guests will love it for the thrill it offers anyone who experiences it. So it’s safe to say that you don’t need to be a Star Wars fan to love or even understand this new attraction. If you love Disney Parks or you’re just dipping your toes into what it’s like to visit, you will love Rise of the Resistance.
