With strong rumors pointing to at least one new pavilion coming to World Showcase at Epcot, we thought it would be fun to share some top contenders for countries we would love to see Disney bring to the park.
Not only is Zurich one of the most beautiful cities in the world (seriously go and visit if you are heading to Europe) but it contains everything that would make the perfect pavilion, we even know the perfect ride to insert into the area…
Switzerland isn’t just famous for its chocolate. The cheese is also amazing and opening a restaurant here serving delicious cheesy appetizers and chocolate fondue for dessert would go down a storm. As for the attraction of choice, did someone say Matterhorn?
Imagine half the pavilion dedicated to the rich architecture of Zurich and the other half featuring The Alps and the Matterhorn.
With wonderful cities including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Seville (to name just a few), it’s always been a bit of a surprise to us that Spain never made it into Epcot’s original park design.
Imagine the incredible restaurants that could be contained within the pavilion serving traditional paella, gazpacho, tapas and a variety of seafood.
Though Disney would have to avoid some cultural elements such as bullfighting, there’s no shortage of other cultural parts that could be leaned upon here to create a truly fantastic pavilion.
Though we have the Mexican pyramid already on show in the Mexican pavilion, imagine an attraction that takes us deep inside an Egyptian pyramid and educates us about the incredible history that the country has to offer? We’re thinking a cross between Spaceship Earth and Universal’s The Mummy!
On top of the beauty of the pyramids and artefacts, Egypt has some incredible food to try including ful, falafel, mahshi and made famous by The Avengers, shawarma.
This last one is by far the most controversial one on our list but it would also arguably make the most interesting pavilion out of everything we’ve covered. Imagine a snow-covered Moscow with venders selling snowglobes and traditional Russian foods such as pancakes, Kamchatka crab, and Borscht.
Russian cities have such interesting architectures that an Epcot pavilion based on Russia would really stand out among the others.
There’s a few we missed off the list, notably India (having already been covered well in Disney’s Animal Kingdom) and Brazil (the top rumored pavilion to be coming to Epcot).
