Credit: DisneyIt’s safe to say, it’s not a great time to be a fan of The Muppets at the moment. With rumors of a recent cancellation of one of the Disney+ shows that was being worked on by Josh Gad and the creators of “Once Upon a Time” we thought the bad news was over. It seems Disney may not be done just yet and are extending their Muppet cancellations into the theme parks.
One of our favorite shows at the Magic Kingdom is currently at risk, with no showtimes of The Muppets Present…Great Moments in American History appearing at the park starting October 1st. Here’s a look at all the showtimes available on September 30th, taken from the official Walt Disney World website:
Now if we take a look at the very next day, on October 1st:
It’s not looking good for Kermit, Piggy, Sam, Fozzie, Gonzo, and the gang over at the Magic Kingdom. As it stands right now, it looks like you have just a couple of weeks to go and enjoy The Muppets retell some of America’s greatest stories with the bonus of having a comedy Muppets twist.
This really is one of the best shows at the resort, and it would be such a shame to lose a Muppet show whereby the puppets are physically being performed live in front of guests. The show has only been around for three years and still attracts crowds.
Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time that Disney has made cutbacks in recent weeks, with Disneyland cancelling live entertainment after a summer of lower than expected attendance.
Cutting back on unique and beloved experiences doesn’t seem like the best way to encourage more guests into the parks, especially given how well-loved The Muppets are! Still, if The Muppets Present…Great Moments in American History is being cancelled at Magic Kingdom, at least we still have one new Muppets show in the works at Disney+, at least for now.
