Sony and Marvel have just made up and announced that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We also learned that a third Spider-Man film will be set in the MCU, following “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home”.

Although this news had MCU fans everywhere screaming with joy, this in fact was not the biggest news for Marvel this week.

And thanks to this news, we now have a big year ahead of us. With an already packed 2021, Marvel Studios now has, for the first time ever, four MCU movies debuting in a single year. If none of these Marvel Studios films shift release dates, MCU fans will look forward to the release of “Shang Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings” on February 12, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” on May 7, the new untitled Spider-Man film on July 16, and “Thor: Love and Thunder” on November 5.

“Shang Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings” will star Simu Liu, Awkwafina and Tony Chiu-Wai Leung. Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Doctor Strange in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The sequel is also rumored to tie-in with the new upcoming Disney+ series “WandaVision”. Tom Holland will of course return to the big screen as Spider-Man in a third film as we just learned he isn’t done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet. And of course, Chris Hemsworth will be returning as Thor, making him the first MCU hero to get a fourth film in his respective franchise.

Marvel had a very successful year in 2019 thus far as they had “Avengers: Endgame” take the trophy of the top-grossing film of all time. On top of the success of “Avengers: Endgame”, they also had “Captain Marvel” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home” earn over $1 billion at the box office. Despite the success of 2019, it looks like 2021 will be even more exciting and could potentially set new records.
