Rumor has it from a Marvel insider that the comic book giant wants Spider-Man to team up Wolverine and Deadpool.
While the decision regarding who is going to fill Hugh Jackman’s sideburns and adamantium claws is still up in the air, let’s look at three reasons why this could possibly happen:
Everybody’s Under One Roof
After merging with 21st Century Fox, Disney has been able to give several characters back to Marvel Studios…most importantly, Deadpool and Wolverine. Despite the MCU taking pride in the fact they have gone off the comic book page to create their own little canon, this trio was a big hit for the comics and has loads of potential for the MCU. (Ball’s in your court now Marvel…)
Marvel has Big Plans for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man
As of now, reports have shown that Tom Holland is expected to stick around for NINE–yes nine–Spider-Man movies. As long as Disney’s agreement with Sony stands strong, this means there are lots of potential crossovers just waiting to happen.
Kevin Feige wants to keep building
On top of those nine desired Spider-Man movies, Kevin Feige has stated that a 5th Avengers movie is already in the works. The Marvel boss has also mentioned that he is willing to wait to make any BIG changes like this trio, saying that the 5th Avengers movie and that new band of heroes could wait until Phase Five of the MCU. Point: there is no rush and plenty of time to bring Spider-Man, Deadpool and Wolverine together and build this cinematic powder keg.
There is no confirmation on anything. But, there is no doubt that the banter between Tom Holland and Ryan Reynolds would be nothing short of legendary. This would also be a great way to cement the next Wolverine into the hearts of this latest generation of superhero fans.
