A new experience inspired by superhero suit designer Edna Mode is coming to Epcot at Walt Disney World, but we hear that no capes will be allowed.
Today at the D23 Expo, Disney Parks Chairman shared Disney’s vision for a completely re-imagined Epcot, one that celebrates the “Magic of Possibility.” One of the newest additions to Epcot will be a new Play pavilion which will be located in the former Wonders of Life pavilion.
The Play pavilion was confirmed in February of this year, but at the D23 Expo today, Chapek announced more details related to the Play pavilion, which will be an updated, upgraded version of the previous Innoventions attraction in Future World. The pavilion will be the first one to open in Future World since 2003 when Mission: SPACE opened.
Within the Play pavilion will be multiple smaller Innoventions-style attractions and experiences, one of which features Edna Mode, the short-statured, quick-witted phenomenal designer of superhero garb, from suits and boots to helmets and masks (but again, no capes!).
The Edna Mode attraction will feature a touchscreen-based design-focused experience hosted by none other than the incomparable Edna Mode herself.
The Play pavilion will also feature an attraction inspired by Huey, Dewey and Louie, but so far we don’t have any details about this attraction.
Edna Mode’s attraction at the Play pavilion was just one part of the multi-faceted overhaul of Epcot revealed today at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. In fact, Epcot’s overhaul is so extensive that it includes a complete re-imagining of the current Future World, a new Mary Poppins-themed attraction at the United Kingdom pavilion on the World Showcase, a new restaurant in the France pavilion and more.
There’s even a new “Moana”-inspired attraction coming to Epcot called “The Journey of Water.”
