If you’re hoping to drop by Disney Springs for a sweet treat in 2026, we may have some bad news.
Back in 2015, Walt Disney World Resort debuted one of its most significant transformations to date with the official opening of Disney Springs. Technically, the shopping and dining district had been in operation for years. However, after years of transformation, it ditched its kitschy, ’90s vibes for a more sophisticated, expansive experience that included a slew of new restaurants and stores.

In the years since Downtown Disney became Disney Springs, we’ve seen plenty more changes hit the area. For example, DisneyQuest (RIP) closed for good in 2017 to make way for the short-lived NBA Experience, which itself shuttered during COVID-19 and is now set to be replaced by Level99, an escape room attraction, in 2026.
Several stores have also bid adieu to Disney Springs. The Art of Shaving closed in early 2024, with a second Gideon’s Bakehouse-related project on its way to the same spot. Alex and Ani, the UGG store, Sosa Family Cigars, and Sanuk have all also closed over the years.
Multiple eateries have also disappeared, including Wolfgang Puck Express and Bongos Cuban Café.

Now, Disney Springs is rumored to face an even more shocking closure.
Permanent Closure Reported at Disney Springs
Reports have spread online over the past 24 hours that Sprinkles Cupcakes will be closing all of its stores at the end of the operating day on December 31, 2025.
That includes the location in the Town Center area of Disney Springs, which first opened in May 2016. Guests can currently drop by the bakery for cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and ice cream, all of which are made fresh daily. The store also boasts one of the iconic Sprinkles Cupcake ATMs, which operates 24/7.

Rumors have spread across the likes of Instagram and Reddit, where alleged employees claim to have learned that all corporate stores are shuttering as of today.
One wrote, “I’m a worker at one of the franchise locations and I can confirm not a single soul has a job anymore with sprinkles, me, the staff and everyone across the US are out of a job after today. Corporate gave us no time to prepare and have gone radio silent on everyone.”
“My gf was an employee at Sprinkles in Las Vegas until today,” wrote one Reddit user. “They gave everyone working for them company wide only a days notice they’re closing all locations and no severance pay for anyone at the store level. Despicable!”

For now, neither Disney nor Sprinkles has made an official closure announcement. However, comments have been turned off on the Sprinkles Instagram account amid a flood of negative comments from fans and workers alike.
“One day notice is crazy,” wrote one Instagram user. “Just used us for the holidays then tossed us aside.”
Another said, “Officially j*bless thanks to sprinkles.”
Operating hours are currently still listed online for the Disney Springs Sprinkles location through February.
