Magic Kingdom Park is the latest victim of low theme park attendance, as Walt Disney World Resort guests report that the typical Independence Day weekend crowds didn’t materialize. Last weekend brought more than just Fourth of July celebrations to the original Central Florida Disney park; Sunday was also the final day of operations for Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat.

Typically, families flock to Walt Disney World Resort in the summer, taking advantage of time off from public school. This year, though, several reports have indicated that the usual crowds aren’t showing up to Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

After a busy spring break season, Walt Disney World Resort tried to lure guests with simultaneous discounts on theme park tickets, Disney Resort hotel rooms, and other experiences. Unfortunately, those efforts appear to have failed.

Magic Kingdom Park offers unforgettable 360-degree fireworks on July 4, which typically draw so many guests that Walt Disney World Resort blocks out most Annual Passholders for the entire weekend. On Sunday, July 6, though, several Disney Park guests reported surprisingly low wait times throughout the Magic Kingdom.

Redditor u/netflixnpoptarts shared a screenshot of the My Disney Experience app mid-day on Sunday. “What’s going on with these times?” the Disney Parks fan asked. “Is everything ok?”

Hundreds of commenters shared their experiences with lower crowd levels around Walt Disney World Resort.

“My family went this past week and I was in shock at the wait times,” u/hailey_faith wrote. “They were super low. Flight of Passage was like 25 minutes at one point.”

“Just there this past week. We only came because Disney gave us a crazy good deal likely because of the low crowds,” u/jkman61494 replied. “We got a 2 bed + pullout suite at art of animation for less money than what we paid to stay at the Hampton Inn in Sarasota ($220). AKL was less than $400. And they had the 3 day park pass deal. And they had the free water park…Between Americans increasingly being squeezed and foreign travel likely DECIMATING tourism, Disney is being slapped hard…No one is traveling here anymore.”

TikTok user @magicbyjulia also shared a screenshot of the Magic Kingdom Park wait times, calling July 6 a “perfect day” in Central Florida:

Several Central Florida Disney Park guests agreed.

“It’s been such a nice weekend,” @thesisketears commented.

Walt Disney World Resort doesn’t release live attendance data, so reports of lower Magic Kingdom Park crowds than usual remain anecdotal and unconfirmed.
