Walt Disney Studios has another major trailer hit on its hands. The first look at the highly anticipated live-action Lilo & Stitch debuted this week and quickly soared to record-breaking numbers, becoming the second most-viewed Disney live-action trailer of all time within its first 24 hours.

With an astonishing 158 million views, the Lilo & Stitch teaser now sits just behind 2019’s The Lion King teaser trailer, which holds the top spot for Disney’s most-watched live-action preview. This is a huge win for Disney after some of their recent live-action films have failed to overjoy audiences.

A Viral Sensation Across Platforms

The Lilo & Stitch trailer didn’t just rack up views—it dominated online conversations. Within an hour of its release, the teaser claimed the No. 1 trending spot on X, remaining in the platform’s top 10 for hours after.

Over on YouTube, it reached the No. 1 trending position, while on China’s Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok), the trailer also surged to the top spot, demonstrating the film’s global appeal.

The impressive reception signals strong anticipation for the live-action reimagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic, which has remained a fan favorite for over two decades. The positive reactions praise the casting of Lilo as well as the CGI of Stitch.

‘Lilo & Stitch’ Set to Hit Theaters in 2025

Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On), Lilo & Stitch brings the heartwarming and chaotic story of a young Hawaiian girl and her mischievous alien “dog” into the world of live-action. While details about casting and visual effects remain under wraps, the overwhelming response to the trailer suggests that audiences are eager to see how Disney reinterprets the beloved tale.

Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch is set to open exclusively in theaters on May 23, 2025, and if the record-breaking trailer numbers are any indication, Stitch’s next adventure could be a massive box-office success.
