Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) is opting for a complete do-over where its cast is concerned.

With none of the actors from any of the previous films expected to return in any capacity–that’s Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), and Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing)–and with a new ensemble onboard, Rebirth really is shaping up to be the beginning of “a new Jurassic era”.

Among its star-studded cast is Scarlett Johansson, currently best known for playing Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), having appeared in blockbuster hits such as Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

Now, she’s set to take on genetically engineered dinosaurs in the seventh film in the popular Jurassic series, which has grossed a combined $6 billion at the global box office.

In the new film, Johansson plays covert operations expert Zora Bennett, who’s sent on a top-secret mission to extract genetic material from the world’s three biggest dinosaurs. But, in true Jurassic fashion, things go sideways when Zora and her team find themselves stranded on a mysterious, dinosaur-inhabited island with the survivors of a capsized boat.

Johansson hasn’t been shy about wanting to break into the Jurassic franchise. Now, in an interview with TODAY, the Marvel Cinematic Universe star couldn’t contain her excitement about the new film, echoing the same giddiness she’s expressed every single interview she’s appeared in she was first announced as the new lead earlier the year.

Jurassic World Rebirth, we just finished it. I feel like we’re still shooting it,” she said.

“We shot it in Thailand, Malta, and the UK, and it was a whirlwind. We shot it for the last five months or something like that, and my life-long dream has always been to participate in Jurassic in any way – I was like, ‘I will do your craft service, I’ll be a dinosaur,’ I was like, ‘Just put the dots all over me, I’ll be that person, the mo-cap person’. It was a crazy ride, and it’s coming out, like, tomorrow basically.”

Of course, Jurassic World Rebirth isn’t actually coming out tomorrow–it won’t be hitting theaters until July 2, next year. But seeing as it’s only six months away, fans are wondering where the first official trailer is.

Though it’s likely to drop sometime before the end of the year, we might not see it until February, as that’s when the first trailer for the latest sequel Jurassic World Dominion (2022) premiered–just four months before its release.
