Credit: DisneyDisney has seemingly backtracked an extensive closure at one of its theme parks.

Earlier this week, the Toyko Disney Resort updated its list of closures to include Indiana Jones Adventure. The legendary attraction was set to close early next year for a lengthy refurbishment. However, this refurbishment has seemingly been canceled, with all mentions of the ride’s closure now removed from the official resort website.
The ride mirrors Disneyland’s original Indiana Jones Adventure, which opened at the California theme park in 1995. Tokyo’s version opened alongside Tokyo DisneySea in 2001.
Indiana Jones Adventure is located in the park’s Lost River Delta area, which is themed to a 1930s Central America archeological site.

Tokyo Disney is often considered one of Disney’s best theme park resorts. While it’s operated separately by the Oriental Land Company, Toyko Disney is still chock full of classic Disney rides, as well as experiences wholly unique to the Japanese resort.
Originally opening in 1983, the Tokyo Disney Resort features two theme parks, each filled with a wide selection of rides and attractions, as well as a variety of resort hotels for guests to stay at.
Tokyo Disney features the second iteration of Indiana Jones Adventure, though a third iteration is currently being designed for the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
In 2022, The Walt Disney Company first revealed its plans to transform DINOSAUR, a thrill ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, into a new experience based on Indiana Jones.
This is a poetic ending for the attraction, as Disney used the same ride vehicles and systems, as well as the overall track layout of Indiana Jones Adventure while building DINOSAUR.
This was done to save money, as Disney reportedly blew past its estimated budget while constructing its Animal Kingdom theme park, which eventually opened in 1998.

Indiana Jones Adventure was originally set to close on March 5, 2025, and was not scheduled to reopen until March 4, 2026. However, Tokyo Disney has removed this refurbishment from its website, suggesting that it has been canceled or postponed.
Tokyo’s Indiana Jones Adventure invites guests to join an exhilarating expedition into a forbidden temple led by Paco, a friend of Dr. Indiana Jones. Of course, things quickly go wrong, with the temple’s vengeful guardian spirit, the Crystal Skull, unleashing its anger as guests attempt to make it out of the temple with their lives.
It’s unknown what this refurbishment would entail at this time, though given the length of the planned closure, Indiana Jones Adventure was likely set to receive several upgrades during its downtime.
Amid the mixed messaging regarding Tokyo Disney’s Indiana Jones Adventure, the resort shared a new video to YouTube advertising the attraction.
This somewhat confusing news regarding Indiana Jones Adventure follows the permanent closure of Tokyo Disney’s version of Space Mountain. The Disney coaster closed forever in July, with the resort now working on rebuilding Space Mountain from the ground up.
Tokyo Disney unveiled the project back in 2022, sending a shockwave throughout the Disney theme park community. Space Mountain is set to be completely demolished in the coming months, with concept art (shown below) envisioning a bold new approach for the legendary roller coaster.
Alongside Space Mountain’s redesign, the resort will also be upgrading its Tomorrowland section of Tokyo Disneyland Park, These two projects are expected to continue for the next several years, wrapping up sometime in 2027.
