Credit: DC / Warner Bros.Batman is about to experience one of the busiest times in his decades-long career yet. And now, we have our first official look at one of the Caped Crusader’s highly anticipated movie sequels.
The Batman: Part II
Earlier this year, Warner Bros. and DC shared a first-look “camera test” teaser for Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated upcoming superhero sequel The Batman: Part II, showing Robert Pattinson in his Dark Knight gear while snow falls on a crime scene.
The film is a direct sequel to 2022’s The Batman, which earned $772.3 million against its $185–200 million budget and received wide praise from audiences and critics.
However, that teaser came with a caveat, as it confirmed that the film had been delayed yet again, this time being pushed back to February 2028, after originally being set for release on October 3, 2025 before being initially delayed until October 2, 2026. Watch the teaser for the film here:
The Brave and the Bold
Meanwhile, the DCU has its own Batman film in the works: The Brave and the Bold (TBA).
That film is being directed by Andi Muschietti (2023’s The Flash) and will cast a new actor as the Caped Crusader. No release date has been confirmed, however, but it’s unlikely to come out before The Batman: Part II, even if that film’s release has now been pushed back until 2028.
The Brave and the Bold will join Superman (2025), Supergirl (2026), and Clayface (2026) in the current DC Universe (DCU) under James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Batman: Knightfall
Then there’s Batman: Knightfall, which adapts the comic book story of the same name, best known for featuring the villain Bane and the moment where he breaks the Batman, as depicted in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises (2012), which starred Christian Bale and Tom Hardy in those roles.
Last year, following an announcement at NYCC, Variety reported that Batman: Knightfall would be getting a multi-part, animated film series based on the comic storyline, which was released in three parts between 1993 and 1994 with Knightfall, Knightquest, and KnightsEnd.
The first installment, Batman: Knightfall – Part 1: Knightfall, premiered earlier this year at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and was then released digitally on August 25.
Now, we have the first official trailer for the sequel, Batman: Knightfall – Part 2: Knightquest.
While there’s no official release date, Batman: Knightfall – Part 2: Knightquest will premiere digitally later this year, and Batman: Knightfall – Part 3: KnightsEnd arrives sometime in 2027.
Knightfall stars Anson Mount (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds) as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
A TV adaptation of the acclaimed comic book series Absolute Batman is also in development.
