Batman fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming years, with multiple projects across animation, live-action, gaming, and publishing on the horizon.
On the big screen, Matt Reeves’ The Batman – Part II, starring Robert Pattinson, promises a continuation of the gritty take established in the 2022 film. Meanwhile, DC is preparing the next live-action reboot, The Brave and the Bold, under James Gunn and Peter Safran, adding to the DC Universe first established in this year’s Superman (2025).
A new video game adventure is also on the horizon — “LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight” (2026), which will explore the Caped Crusader’s world in playful brick-built fashion. Fans of the Tim Burton Batman films will have something new to dive into as well, with the upcoming novel “Batman: Revolution” continuing the story of Batman (1989) with author John Jackson Miller, who penned last year’s “Batman: Resurrection”, back in the writer’s chair.

But if all that wasn’t enough, DC has now announced yet another project starring the Caped Crusader: Batman: Knightfall.
Slated for release in 2026, Knightfall will be a multi-part adaptation of the iconic storyline of the same name from DC Comics that was released in three parts between 1993 and 1994, Variety reports, following an official announcement made at NYCC.
Directed by Jeff Wamester, known for his work on DC’s animated Tomorrowverse projects, including the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy, the movie will bring one of the Dark Knight’s most harrowing sagas to life.

The Knightfall event is perhaps best remembered for Bane breaking Batman’s back, an image that has become synonymous with the character’s enduring struggle, also thanks to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises (2012), which starred Christian Bale and Tom Hardy in the roles.
Similarly, the comic arc follows Bruce Wayne as he battles to recover from his defeat, while Azrael steps into the role of Batman, grappling with the responsibilities and moral weight of the mantle. With the upcoming animated adaptation, fans can expect to see these key moments faithfully represented, along with many of Batman’s most famous villains.

The official synopsis reads: “When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point.”
Batman: Knightfall — Part 1 will hit theaters in 2026, with an exact premiere date to be announced at a later time. It is directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Jeremy Adams. Rick Morales serves as supervising producer alongside producers Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau. Sam Register and Michael Uslan are on board as executive producers.
“Batman: Revolution” goes on sale later this month. “LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight” releases sometime next year. The Batman – Part II is now scheduled for release in October, 2027. There’s no release date for The Brave and the Bold.
