Universal Orlando has officially put one of its most controversial attractions on the clock.

After years of rumors, fan speculation, and ongoing criticism, Universal has confirmed that Fast & Furious: Supercharged at Universal Studios Florida will permanently close next month. Even more surprising, the attraction is shutting down earlier than previously expected, giving fans far less time than anticipated to experience it one last time.

If you’ve ever wanted to see Dom, Letty, Roman, and the rest of the crew race through the streets one final time, the countdown has officially begun.

August 16 Will Be the Final Day to Ride

Universal has confirmed that Fast & Furious: Supercharged will permanently close on August 17, 2026, making August 16 the final day guests can experience the attraction. That accelerates the attraction’s closure timeline by roughly a year after Universal had previously indicated the ride would remain open until 2027.

While longtime Universal fans have anticipated the ride’s eventual retirement ever since the announcement of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, the revised timeline still comes as a surprise.

Now, the attraction has officially entered its final month of operation.

A Ride That Never Won Fans Over

Fast & Furious: Supercharged opened at Universal Studios Florida in 2018, replacing Disaster! A Major Motion Picture Ride… Starring You! Expectations were high, especially considering the popularity of the blockbuster film franchise.

Instead, the attraction quickly became one of the most criticized rides at Universal Orlando.

The experience placed guests aboard a “party bus” before sending them into a screen-based chase through the city alongside the Fast family. While Universal attempted to expand upon the version that debuted as part of the Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood by adding two pre-show rooms and additional footage featuring franchise characters, many guests felt the attraction simply didn’t translate well as a standalone ride.

Complaints frequently centered on the heavy reliance on projection screens, limited physical sets, confusing story, and relatively tame ride system. In fan polls and online discussions, Fast & Furious: Supercharged routinely appeared near the bottom of rankings of Universal Orlando attractions.

Despite that reputation, the ride has still attracted a loyal following. Some fans appreciate its over-the-top action, memorable pre-shows, or simply enjoy experiencing every attraction the resort has to offer.

As with nearly every retiring attraction, nostalgia has also begun to reshape opinions now that the end is officially in sight.

Hollywood Already Said Goodbye

Universal Studios Hollywood already closed its version of Fast & Furious: Supercharged when it retired the Studio Tour segment that originally introduced the attraction.

That closure made the Florida version the final place guests could experience Supercharged.

With Universal Orlando now confirming its own permanent closure, the attraction will soon disappear entirely from Universal’s parks.

Making Way for a New Generation

The closure comes as Universal prepares for the next chapter of the franchise.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is scheduled to debut at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2027, bringing a dramatically different experience to guests.

Rather than another screen-based attraction, Hollywood Drift will be a high-speed outdoor roller coaster featuring rotating ride vehicles, high-speed launches, and large-scale physical track elements inspired by the films.

For many fans, the new coaster represents the kind of attraction the Fast & Furious franchise deserved from the beginning.

Although Universal has not yet announced what will replace Fast & Furious: Supercharged in Florida, speculation has already begun across the theme park community. The attraction occupies a sizable portion of the San Francisco area of Universal Studios Florida, making it one of the park’s most valuable redevelopment spaces.

Given Universal Orlando’s ongoing expansion and investment across the resort—including Epic Universe and continued updates to its existing parks—many believe the site could eventually receive a completely new attraction.

Time Is Running Out

Whether you consider Fast & Furious: Supercharged one of Universal’s weakest attractions or an underrated experience worth defending, there’s no denying its place in the resort’s history.

For nearly eight years, it has welcomed millions of guests into the world of the Fast family, becoming one of the park’s most talked-about rides—if not always for the reasons Universal had hoped.

Now, that story is coming to an end.

Guests wanting one last ride alongside Dom Toretto and his crew have until August 16, 2026 before Fast & Furious: Supercharged permanently closes its doors, ending one of Universal Orlando’s most debated attractions for good.
