Now, Disney has issued what essentially amounts to an immediate construction notice for guests visiting the attraction.
Construction Begins at Tower of Terror
New refurbishment work is officially underway in the outdoor queue for Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. According to recent guest reports and images from the park, multiple decorative columns located throughout the covered queue area are now wrapped in scrims and temporary construction coverings. At the moment, the project appears focused specifically on the bases of the columns inside the outdoor section of the queue. Several columns have already been fully covered, while others nearby still show the original decorative designs that guests are used to seeing.
Disney has not publicly released a detailed explanation about the work itself, but the timing lines up with a construction permit that was reportedly filed earlier this year by Disney’s Facility Asset Management division.
So far, the attraction continues to operate normally, and guests can still enter the queue without major disruptions.

Unlike some attractions that can quietly undergo maintenance without much guest attention, Tower of Terror tends to generate immediate conversation whenever visible work begins. The attraction’s popularity has remained remarkably steady over the years as well. Wait times frequently climb throughout the afternoon and evening, particularly during holiday weeks and peak travel seasons.
That continued demand likely explains why Disney remains committed to ongoing upkeep around the experience. Even cosmetic projects in the queue area can help maintain the overall atmosphere and prevent visible wear from becoming too noticeable for guests.
Disney has not announced a completion timeline for the current work, and it’s unclear whether additional construction phases are planned for other portions of the attraction.
