Another Hollywood Studios Food Location Suddenly Goes Dark

Walt Disney World is in the middle of a major transformation period, and nowhere is that more obvious right now than at Hollywood Studios. Construction walls, scrims, and retheming projects are appearing across the park as Disney prepares for several future updates.

While most of the attention lately has been focused on the massive changes coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, a quieter change nearby has caught the attention of many guests. One of the park’s smaller snack locations has suddenly gone dark, leaving Hollywood Studios with yet another place to grab food temporarily out of service.

The closure might seem minor at first glance, but it reflects a bigger trend happening across the park as Disney continues to reshape the area around Sunset Boulevard.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s Transformation Is Already Moving Quickly

The biggest change happening in this corner of Hollywood Studios is the retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The long-running attraction featuring Aerosmith officially closed on March 2 as Disney prepares to convert it into a brand-new version starring The Muppets.

Work on the transformation actually began months earlier. Disney closed the attraction’s pre-show area back in December 2025 so construction could begin before the ride itself went offline. Now that the full attraction has shut down, visible progress is happening quickly around the entrance and surrounding areas.

Recent updates show Disney repainting the car display at the attraction’s entrance so it more closely resembles the iconic van used by Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. The retheme will eventually transform the ride’s storyline and visuals to fit the beloved Muppets band instead of Aerosmith.

Nearby, construction scrims and walls have also appeared around the giant guitar that once displayed the attraction’s original name. The signage reading “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith” has already been removed, suggesting Disney is preparing the structure for its new identity.

All signs point to Disney moving quickly. The company has indicated the new Muppets-themed version of the coaster is expected to debut sometime this summer.

But the ride itself isn’t the only thing that has changed in the area.

KRNR The Rock Station Has Gone Quiet

Just steps away from the attraction’s entrance sits a small snack location that many guests relied on for quick park fuel: KRNR The Rock Station.

The snack stand has now closed its service windows, removing yet another quick stop for food in Hollywood Studios.

For years, KRNR served simple grab-and-go options for guests heading toward Sunset Boulevard attractions like Tower of Terror or Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. It wasn’t a major restaurant destination, but it filled an important role in the park’s food lineup by offering a convenient place to grab snacks without waiting in a long line.

Its closure comes at an awkward time, especially with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster already shut down for refurbishment. The area has lost both a major attraction and a nearby food stop simultaneously.

Right now, the windows are shuttered, and there’s no sign that the location is actively operating.

A Retheme Could Be the Most Likely Outcome

Although the stand has closed for now, many fans suspect this won’t be a permanent disappearance.

Given the scale of the retheme happening next door, it would make sense for Disney to update the snack stand to match the new Muppets theme of the coaster once construction is complete.

Disney has often used small food locations to extend the storytelling around nearby attractions. If the Electric Mayhem band becomes the centerpiece of the coaster, it wouldn’t be surprising to see KRNR return with new theming that fits the rock-band chaos of The Muppets.

For now, though, the location remains closed with no official timeline for reopening.

Hollywood Studios Dining Options Continue to Shift

The temporary loss of KRNR The Rock Station may not seem huge on its own, but it adds to the growing list of changes happening across Hollywood Studios.

The park has a mix of quick-service spots, snack stands, and table-service restaurants that guests rely on throughout the day. Locations like Backlot Express, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, Woody’s Lunch Box, and the iconic Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant continue to serve guests across the park.

Still, smaller snack windows like KRNR often help absorb crowds, especially during busy seasons when guests want something fast between rides.

When one of those locations disappears—even temporarily—it can create longer waits at other food spots nearby.

Sunset Boulevard in particular already experiences heavy traffic because it houses two of the park’s biggest thrill rides along with shows and nighttime entertainment.

With the coaster closed and the snack stand unavailable, the area currently feels a little quieter than usual.

Construction Walls Are Becoming Common at Hollywood Studios

These kinds of changes have become increasingly common across Hollywood Studios over the past few years.

The park has seen massive expansions with the addition of Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Disney has continued to tweak the park’s lineup ever since. Some areas are preparing for brand-new experiences, while others are being refreshed to keep them relevant.

The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster retheme is part of that ongoing evolution. Disney appears eager to keep the attraction lineup tied to its most recognizable characters and franchises.

The Muppets, with their chaotic musical energy, may prove to be a natural fit for the high-speed coaster experience.

But construction projects like this often ripple outward to surrounding areas, affecting shops, dining locations, and walkways while work is underway.

KRNR The Rock Station’s closure appears to be one of those ripple effects.

More Changes Could Still Be Coming

With construction scrims continuing to spread around the coaster’s entrance, it wouldn’t be surprising to see additional changes appear in this section of the park in the coming weeks.

Disney typically updates surrounding details when it rethemes a major attraction. That could mean new signage, updated food locations, and additional cosmetic changes around the Sunset Boulevard area before the new ride opens.

Guests will still be able to walk through the area to reach nearby entertainment like Villains: Unfairly Ever After once showtimes begin each day.

For now, though, one thing is clear: Hollywood Studios has quietly lost another food stop.

Whether KRNR The Rock Station returns with a brand-new look or disappears entirely remains to be seen. But with the Muppets preparing to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, it seems likely that this corner of the park is only beginning its transformation.
