If you’re visiting one Disney park in the first half of 2026, prepare for potential disappointment with the attractions lineup.
Walt Disney vowed that Disneyland would never be complete, and other Disney parks across the globe have adopted the same mindset.

The next few years alone are set to see a string of new attractions introduced to Disney properties worldwide, such as Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster at Hollywood Studios, a new Indiana Jones attraction at Animal Kingdom, a Coco boat ride at Disney California Adventure Park, and a Lion King ride that’s been compared to Splash Mountain at Walt Disney Studios Park (soon to become Disney Adventure World).
At the same time, Disney routinely refreshes or pauses its existing attractions to keep its parks in top shape. That’s the case at Magic Kingdom right now, where Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is in the middle of a lengthy closure that has seen its entire track replaced and the addition of new effects.

Refurbishments are posted well in advance on each Disney resort’s respective website. While some guests may be lucky and find that few rides are closed during their visit, others may run into their fair share of shuttered attractions.
Sadly, that may be the case at Tokyo Disneyland in early 2026.
Multiple Closures Confirmed For Disney Park in Early 2026
A whopping 14 attractions are set to close for refurbishment at the theme park in the first half of next year. The most significant of these closures is Dumbo the Flying Elephant, which will be off limits to all guests from January 5 to July 31.
Other closures are as follows:
- Pinocchio’s Daring Journey (January 6 to January 19)
- Mickey’s House and Meet Mickey (January 12 to January 13)
- Haunted Mansion (January 13 to February 18)
- Splash Mountain (January 14 to February 12)
- Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions (January 19 to February 19)
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic (February 20 to March 23)
- Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast (February 27 to March 9)
- Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin (February 27 to March 30)
- Peter Pan’s Flight (March 24 to May 22)
- Minnie’s House (April 1 to April 14)
- Mark Twain Riverboat (April 22 to May 21)
- Pirates of the Caribbean (May 11 to June 17)
- Big Thunder Mountain (May 22 to June 30)

Notably, the Swiss Family Treehouse has also been shuttered at the park since 2022.
Neighboring park Tokyo DisneySea – often regarded as the best Disney theme park on the planet – also has a string of closures scheduled for the first half of the year. However, none is quite as significant as Dumbo the Flying Elephant’s seven-month closure.
