While Jurassic World continues to dominate the globe with new films like Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), animated shows like Chaos Theory, the many Jurassic attractions that span Universal Studios destinations worldwide, the newly opened Jurassic World: The Experience–whether it’s the one in London or Singapore–or new video games, with the upcoming “Jurassic Park: Survival” also doubling as a direct sequel to the original 1993 film, the franchise is also taking the world by storm in a much more epic and unprecedented way.

“Jurassic Park: Survival” (TBA) isn’t the only video game hitting consoles soon. “Jurassic World Evolution 3”, the third installment in the popular park management simulation series, finally has its first trailer, along with a release date and a newly launched website:

One of the many surprise reveals in the trailer, along with all the dinosaurs, of course, is the return of Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm in campaign mode. Goldblum lent his vocal talents to the iconic Jurassic Park character in both previous “Evolution” titles.

Now, he marks his return by narrating the new trailer, warning us that “we altered the course of nature” by unleashing “genetic power across continents,” before adding that “it is up to us to nurture what we have set free; to find hope within this chaos.”

The plot for “Evolution 3” ties into the events of the latest film in the series, Jurassic World Dominion (2022), in which dinosaurs thrived all around the world.

While the games aren’t necessarily considered to be fully canon with the films, the original game, released in 2018, revolves around the concept of building dinosaur theme parks on the fictional Costa Rican islands, from Isla Nublar to Isla Sorna, as seen in the 2015 blockbuster Jurassic World.

The 2021 video game sequel, set between the films Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Dominion, focuses on dinosaurs on mainland North America.

Whether the new game is indeed spinning off of the events of Dominion isn’t yet known, but fans will be pleased to know that they can continue exploring dinosaurs on the mainland, a concept the 2022 film botched, and something the new film Rebirth will ignore entirely, having wiped out the world’s dinosaurs in favor of the tiresome jungle island setting.

However, unlike the previous two titles, in “Evolution 3”, players will be able to embark on an “epic globetrotting campaign” (per the official website for the game) in which they can build Jurassic theme parks in various worldwide locations such as Japan, Asia, Europe, and Hawaii, something that’s never been seen before in this series or the wider franchise.

“Help life find a way,” the official synopsis for the game reads. “Build your own Jurassic World like never before. Nurture generations of awe-inspiring dinosaurs with the series debut of juveniles, create and manage sprawling prehistoric parks around the globe, and let your imagination roar with powerful new creative options.”

The game releases on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on October 21. For more information, visit the official website.
