A Disneyland guest has come forward with a troubling account of another visitor attempting to kick one of the park’s resident ducks, sparking widespread concern about guest behavior and the treatment of wildlife in the parks.

The report, which was shared online, describes a disturbing encounter in which a man tried to harm a duck inside the park, only for the bird to narrowly escape. The situation quickly escalated when, after failing to kick the animal, the man turned his anger toward his own child, yelling at them aggressively.

According to the witness who saw the event unfold, they immediately attempted to intervene:

“A dude today started to try to kick a duck. Duck got away right as I was rushing over to stand in between. He then turned and got into the face of his young child and started yelling at the kid. I kept my eye on that [person] until they walked away.”

The report has left many Disneyland fans outraged, with some calling for stricter enforcement of park rules to protect both guests and the animals that call Disneyland home.

The Beloved Ducks of Disneyland

For many Disney fans, seeing ducks wandering around the parks is a cherished experience. Whether swimming in the water features, waddling across pathways, or raising their ducklings near Sleeping Beauty Castle, these birds have become an endearing part of the Disneyland experience. Over the years, they have delighted guests by making surprise appearances in parades, nesting in flower beds, and occasionally causing a minor delay in attractions as cast members carefully relocate them to safer areas.

While the ducks are not official Disney attractions, they are undoubtedly part of the park’s charm, and most guests recognize the unspoken rule to respect and protect them. Unfortunately, not everyone follows this standard. Reports of guests harassing the ducks—chasing them, trying to pick them up, feeding them inappropriate food, or even attempting to harm them—have become more common in recent years.

Disneyland’s Rules on Protecting Wildlife

Disneyland has clear policies that prohibit harassing, feeding, or harming wildlife within the park. While cast members do their best to keep an eye on both guests and animals, enforcement largely depends on visitors following the rules and, when necessary, reporting violations to security.

California law also prohibits animal cruelty, which means that attempting to harm a duck—or any other animal in the park—could be considered a criminal offense. In extreme cases, guests who engage in this kind of behavior may face ejection from Disneyland, a potential ban, or even legal consequences.

However, as seen in this recent report, these incidents don’t always get addressed immediately, and it often falls on other guests to step in or alert security. Many people are now calling for Disneyland to take a stronger stance on protecting its animals, including increasing staff presence in areas where wildlife is frequently seen.

Concerns About Increasingly Aggressive Guest Behavior

The incident also highlights a growing concern over guest behavior at Disney parks. In recent years, there has been an uptick in reports of aggressive, disruptive, and even violent behavior among guests.

Instances of fights breaking out, guests arguing with cast members, rule violations, and even vandalism have all been documented in the past few years. While Disneyland maintains its image as “The Happiest Place on Earth,” some guests argue that rising prices, longer wait times, and increased stress levels may be leading to more short-tempered and aggressive behavior inside the parks.

While the vast majority of Disney guests are respectful and kind, reports of disturbing behavior like this one remind everyone that the magic of Disney is only as strong as the people who choose to uphold it.

What Should Guests Do If They Witness Animal Harassment at Disneyland?

If guests witness someone harassing or attempting to harm wildlife inside Disneyland, they can take the following steps:

  1. Do Not Confront the Person Directly – While it’s understandable to want to intervene, it’s always safest to avoid direct confrontation with an aggressive individual.
  2. Find a cast member or Security Officer – Report the incident to a nearby cast member, who can then alert Disneyland security if necessary.
  3. Document the Incident – If possible, take a mental note of what happened, including a description of the person involved, their location, and any actions taken. In some cases, discreetly recording a video or taking a photo (without escalating the situation) can also be helpful for park officials.
  4. Encourage Others to Respect the Rules – If you see someone feeding, chasing, or harassing animals out of ignorance rather than malice, a polite reminder of Disneyland’s rules might be enough to stop them.

Disneyland relies on a sense of community and mutual respect to maintain the magic of the parks. While cast members do their best to monitor guest behavior, it’s important for visitors to step up and report problems when they see them.

A Reminder to Respect the Magic

At the heart of Disneyland’s charm is the idea that it is a place where guests of all ages can come together to experience joy, wonder, and respect for one another. That respect should extend not only to fellow visitors and cast members but also to the animals who live within the park.

The incident of a guest attempting to kick a duck and then yelling at their child is an unsettling reminder that not everyone upholds that standard. However, with continued awareness and action from both cast members and guests, Disneyland can remain a place where kindness prevails and every living creature is treated with respect.
