While the Disney parks are filled with incredible rides and attractions around every corner, Pirates of the Caribbean continues to be the “gold standard” when it comes to dark ride storytelling. Guests will encounter all types of scum and villainy during their swashbuckling adventure, even coming face to face with the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow himself.

However, the pirate action abruptly stopped for dozens of riders, with one guest going rogue and causing chaos for other Disneyland guests.

Reddit user Wookis shared their unfortunate experience while riding Pirates of the Caribbean earlier this August, revealing that a guest decided to jump out of their boat.

“Help, I’m stuck right by the exit of pirates since somebody on the boat ahead of me jumped off the ride,” said the guest who snapped the photo, sharing it with the rest of the Disneyland community.

Pirates of the Caribbean is arguably the most iconic and legendary attraction at the Disney theme parks. Despite its age, the ride continues to be one of Disney’s most popular experiences. As such, a version of Pirates of the Caribbean can be found worldwide, with each Disney resort putting its own spin on the classic dark ride.

However, guests usually don’t expect to see a real human being mixed in with the old-school animatronics.

The original Reddit post garnered hundreds of reactions, with dozens of users calling the guest out for breaking the rules.

“Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho, a lifetime ban for me,” said teamjetfire.

Reddit user TopCat0601 was confused as to why the guest would jump out in the first place, saying, “Lol. I wonder what the end goal is here. Did they just feel like getting banned, or what?”

It’s unknown what prompted the guest to exit their boat. Disney instructs guests to keep their hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the ride at all times prior to boarding, and guests are also encouraged to remain seated for the entire duration of the experience.

It’s also unknown what happened to the guests once they were spotted by a cast member, though it’s possible they were issued a temporary ban from the premises, depending on the situation.

There have been multiple instances of guests hopping out of their ride vehicles at the Disney parks, with some incidents being more dangerous than others. A situation unfolded on “it’s a small world” earlier this year, with a guest hopping out of their boat.

Last summer, an intoxicated guest hopped off the Gran Fiesta Tour in EPCOT, screaming at other riders as they made their way to the ride’s exit.

One user joked that the guest who hopped off Pirates of the Caribbean at least managed to keep their clothes on, referencing a wild incident involving a guest who walked naked through Disneyland Park. The guest was riding “it’s a small world” before deciding to hop off, eventually taking all of their clothes off.

The nude guest eventually made their way out of the attraction and into Disneyland Park, where they were quickly apprehended by the resort’s security team.

The incident occurred in November of 2023, with videos and photos of the streaker going viral on social media. The story eventually made national news.
