Magic Kingdom has returned to normal operations this morning following a significant power outage that affected several of its popular attractions last night. Visitors to the park were initially met with closed rides and extended wait times as the issue caused widespread disruptions across the park.

By Tuesday morning, most of the park’s rides were back up and running, with the exception of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which remains temporarily closed, although there is hope it will open later today. Guests can also expect Astro Orbiter to remain closed for its scheduled refurbishment. The park will operate its regular hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with most rides fully restored to service.
How the Power Outage Affected Magic Kingdom Attractions

Last night’s power failure left many of Magic Kingdom’s fan-favorite rides temporarily closed. A total of 18 attractions were impacted, including the iconic Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Here is a full list of the rides that were affected:
- The Barnstormer
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- Country Bear Musical Jamboree
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- “it’s a small world”
- Mad Tea Party
- The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Space Mountain
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
- Tomorrowland Speedway
- Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
- Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
Guests in line when the outage occurred were allowed to stay in place and wait, hoping the rides would come back online. However, once it became clear that some attractions would not reopen immediately, queues for those rides were closed.

Which Attractions Stayed Open?
Despite the widespread outages, several attractions remained operational during the incident. Notably, the Tomorrowland area seemed to be unaffected, with attractions like Tomorrowland Transit Authority and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor continuing to welcome guests.
Additionally, Liberty Square’s Haunted Mansion and Adventureland’s Jungle Cruise also kept running, providing some relief for park-goers looking for alternatives.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic and TRON Lightcycle Run were also among the few that continued to operate throughout the night, allowing guests to enjoy their time in the park despite the outage.
With such a limited number of rides available, those attractions that were open saw longer-than-usual wait times. The lack of available rides had many guests waiting longer than anticipated, adding to the strain on an already busy night at the park.
The After-Hours Party Survives the Outage

Fortunately, despite the challenges earlier in the evening, the After-Hours party at Magic Kingdom, which began at 10 p.m. and ran until 1 a.m., seemed to be largely unaffected by the outage. Many of the rides were back online in time for guests attending the special event, and they were able to enjoy a somewhat normal experience, even if some of their favorite attractions were down for a while.
Unexpected Closures: Liberty Square Riverboat Out of Service
In a separate but noteworthy event, the Liberty Square Riverboat was unexpectedly closed earlier in the day. While unrelated to the power outage, the boat’s absence from service added to the operational challenges at the park. It’s unclear whether this closure was related to maintenance or another technical issue.
Moving Forward
While the power outage caused significant inconvenience to guests, the quick restoration of most attractions by morning was a welcome relief. Disney has not yet provided details about what caused the power failure, but with the park back up and running, it seems business as usual has resumed for the day.
As always, Magic Kingdom continues to be a bustling hub of entertainment, and even with the temporary hiccup, guests were still able to experience some of the magic of the park. Disney officials will likely continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further disruptions, ensuring that guests can enjoy a full day of theme park magic.
