Hundreds of Walt Disney World Resort guests had to flee an unknown emergency at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this month. One of the Disney Park guests shared their experience evacuating the Toy Story Mania! building amid a chaotic emergency response.

Toy Story Mania! (sometimes known as Toy Story Midway Mania!) is the oldest attraction in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The 4-D ride is much older than the land itself–Walt Disney Imagineers had to completely rebuild its queue so guests entered and exited the attraction in Toy Story Land instead of the Pixar Place area. Similar versions operate in Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort and Tokyo DisneySea at Tokyo Disney Resort.
Ride evacuations are standard practice at Walt Disney World Resort–sometimes, rides can’t be fixed with Disney Park guests on board. However, an unknown emergency recently forced a complete closure of the Toy Story Mania! building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Earlier this month, Redditor u/sejohnson0408 shared their experience evacuating the Toy Story Mania! building.
“Could see red lights across the walkway in between some buildings down from Round Up Rodeo so someone either had an issue or something went off,” they wrote. “…Really impressed with how fast the cast members and guest cooperated.”

The fire department always responds to an emergency alarm at Walt Disney World Resort, even if it’s a false alarm. Red emergency lights don’t necessarily indicate a fire, gas leak, or medical emergency inside the building.
Walt Disney World Resort didn’t publicly acknowledge the Disney’s Hollywood Studios building evacuation. The attraction eventually reopened and was operating normally at the time of this article’s publication.
