From Disneyland to the Walt Disney World Resort, things are bound to happen whenever 100s of thousands of people are crammed into one specific area, and bodily functions like farts are unfortunately no exception.

If we could be mature for just a minute here, let’s admit that we’re all human, and we are all capable of belching, farting, or otherwise passing gas as part of our digestive processes. Especially when we’ve been eating nothing but theme park food when leaving our Disney resorts.

It appears that methane leaks have been a consistent problem at the Disney parks lately. This is especially true and prolifically potent in enclosed spaces such as the hallowed and haunted halls of Gracey Manor or the winding hills of Big Thunder Mountain.

“Unbearable Farts” at the Disney Parks

A post on r/DisneyWorld asked who farted in the Haunted Mansion Hallway (specifically at 7:05 p.m. for some reason), stating that it was reportedly “harsh to endure.”  With 167 upvotes and growing along with 63 responses(at the time of writing), it appears that this wasn’t experienced by a single guest, nor was it the only notable occurrence that day.

Down in the comments, u/meganlizzie recounts a similar story while in line for a particular Frontierland rollercoaster. The mountain apparently wasn’t the only “big thunder” they dealt with.

The user writes,

“One time when I was 11, I farted while in line at Big Thunder, the really claustrophobic and hot section where the line separates into two. My entire family talked about how horrible it smelled for literally years until I admitted it was me…”

At first glance, the situation seems to be your everyday funny story from one of the happiest places on earth. However, this isn’t the first account where guests have shared flatulent field reports from Disney. It might also be on the rise.

Something Stinks…

In a separate post, Disneyland guests share a similar silent-but-deadly phenomenon, but with much more intensity. u/Practical-Rent262 shares how they have not only noticed the severity of the farts in question but the frequency.

The user writes,

“My wife and I have magic keys. We come here frequently. We’ve been here since last night. We are truly shocked at the number of times we’ve smelt farts. The farts-per-hour is much higher than the average place. We flew through a fart cloud in Space Mountain. Someone lit up the monorail. We’re in the Blue Bayou right now and someone had the nerve the rip one here. And those are just a few examples.”

In their thread, u/Influx_ink comments with a horror story from the Finding Nemo attraction. The user shares,

“This one time on the finding Nemo submarine ride – somebody farted and it was so bad that EVERYONE in the sub acknowledged it.  We were all holding our breath and covering our noses with our shirts.  We were trapped and it wasn’t going away, it just kept lingering in the air. People literally got pushy to get out of the hatch when the ride was over.”

There are several more accounts like this, all with two similar components: packed spaces and theme park food. Although The Walt Disney Company has not made a statement about the apparent over-flatulence of its theme park guests, it’s clear that we have a new epidemic on our hands, and masks might soon be required again.
