Walt Disney World Resort unexpectedly closed its version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, disappointing Disney Park guests who waited a year to experience the Splash Mountain retheme.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened on June 28 at Magic Kingdom Park. The Princess and the Frog (2009) log flume ride features Princess Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos), Mama Odie (Jenifer Lewis), and Louis (Michael-Leon Wooley). Guests join their favorite characters as they prepare for a party on the New Orleans Bayou!

A colorful and detailed rock formation resembling a mountain, with rugged terrain, patches of greenery, and a distinct peak. The sky is overcast, adding contrast to the vibrant hues of the rocks. At its base, a wooden structure with a peaked roof hints at the Magic Kingdom's newest attraction launching next month.

Disney Parks fans hoped that Walt Disney Imagineering would restore some of the Splash Mountain ride elements and ensure that the log flume operated more consistently. Unfortunately, the decades-old ride technology and advanced new audio-animatronics started experiencing issues before Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opened. Multiple Disney cast member and Annual Passholder previews were canceled hours before Magic Kingdom Park closed.

The Splash Mountain retheme still requires a Virtual Queue or Lightning Lane Multi Pass reservation to ride, so guests were all the more disappointed when their experience was recently cut short.

TikTok user @ageminorlandopodcast waited “a whole year” to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and see the new Princess Tiana animatronics. Sadly, the ride broke down less than a minute into the guest’s experience.

“[You] wait a whole year to go on Tiana, and we’re stuck,” the Disney Park guest said. “…I was really excited to see the Tiana animatronic. However, she kind of looks a bit fed up as well.”

Still, the guest remained optimistic.

“Oh well,” she said. “Never mind. Hopefully, we’ll be moving soon.”

It’s unclear what caused Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’s indefinite closure. The Magic Kingdom Park attraction eventually reopened and was operating normally when this article was published.
