A recent change at Walt Disney World Resort has some Disney Parks fans lamenting the end of “immersion” in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The update comes just a year after The Walt Disney Company shuttered the theme park land’s adjacent hotel, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge invites Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios guests to tour planet Batuu. Grab a drink at Oga’s Cantina, build a lightsaber, or fly the Millennium Falcon. Everything in the Star Wars land is customized to the Lucasfilm universe, including the trash cans and the Coca-Cola bottles!

Unfortunately, some Disney Park guests say that walking into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios no longer feels like traveling to the intergalactic Black Spire Outpost.

Following ongoing complaints about the lack of seating and shade near the Quick Service restaurant Woody’s Lunch Box in adjacent Toy Story Land, Walt Disney World Resort added tables and chairs in the coolest, most open spot it could find–the entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. @fantasylandnewsblog shared this video of the change on Instagram:

Disney Parks fans weren’t happy.

“Okay- lots of people always say this- but that is one thing Walt would NOT approve of of 😂 totally takes the vibe away,” @aubry.kttwtravel commented.

“They really don’t do things that make sense anymore,” said @chrisid1271.

The news made its way to Reddit, where many Walt Disney World Resort fans felt differently.

“That area was more of a buffer zone anyway,” u/BowTie1989 argued. “It was empty space.”

“This is just trying to jump on the negative Disney bandwagon,” u/sejohnson0408 agreed. “This area was wasted space on the walk to Batuu. Toy Story Land was very visible from here.”

Some Disney Park guests said the small seating area near Woody’s Lunch Box recently closed, suggesting that the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge walkway seating was a temporary solution while they worked on an improved dining area.

“Yesterday, they had all the seating that used to be available by Woody’s Lunch Box blocked off entirely,” u/Spirited_Ball6763 recalled. “They were directing people to the tables in the photo. There’s still a couple tables right in front but not enough. The ones in the picture seem to be a temporary thing while they are reconstructing something with the actual seating.”

“It’s like the single-rider line for [Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance],” u/Gearfree replied. “Give them a few months and see what they can cobble together. Woody’s Lunch Box really does need the extra seating.”

Does the new Woody’s Lunch Box seating impact the immersion in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? In the comments, share your opinion with Inside the Magic.
