Disneyland Resort welcomes millions of visitors each year, but some of those guests will have to change their route into the Southern California theme parks.

Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are known as the “local” theme parks. Southern California residents historically make up more of the Disneyland Resort attendance than Central Florida locals at Walt Disney World Resort.

Most guests park at Disneyland Resort and walk or take the parking tram, while more Walt Disney World Resort guests rely on transportation like the Monorail, busses, the Disney Skyliner, and water transportation.

In the last few months, Disneyland Resort guests have complained about lengthy security lines at the entrance to the Southern California Disney parks and Downtown Disney District. Disney Park guests are constantly trying to find ways to shorten the start of their visit.

Recently, Disneyland Resort stationed a security cast member at the edge of a parking lot to stop guests from walking through it instead of using the designated walkway. They also added “no ped crosswalks” and “walkway to theme parks” signs. @MHawk995 shared this photo:

They put a security guard position here….so we don’t walk through a parking lot….

Many locals used the “hack” to shorten their walk into Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney. However, Disneyland Resort likely sees guests walking through a busy parking lot as a liability.

A recent development suggests that some Disney cast members have changed their tune about guests walking through the parking lot. On Sunday, Redditor u/mommasboy364 shared this photo of the “walkway to theme parks” sign pointing at the parking lot instead of the designated sidewalk path:

Each week I see a different way security tries to keep guests from walking through the parking lot. Yesterday they attempted reverse psychology.

Some Disney Parks fans suggested that a guest purposely moved the sign when a security cast member wasn’t stationed there.

“Unless somebody spun the arrow around on purpose,” u/tomandshell wrote.

Others said they would never stop cutting through the parking lot.

“Every time I see that sign I turn into DW from Arthur and say to myself ‘That sign can’t stop me because I can’t read!’” read the most popular comment from u/Historical_Court1299.

“If you take the staircase on the ramp instead of going all the way down the ramp, you’ll get spit out into the parking lot and they never (that I’ve seen) blocked that walkway like they do with this one,” u/anonymous_hipster replied. “It’s basically the far corner of the lot but you also avoid getting stuck behind all the strollers on the ramp.”

For your safety, Inside the Magic recommends using designated walkways at the Disney parks. Exercise caution and look carefully before crossing into traffic or active parking lots.
