Pools are a deciding factor for many guests choosing between a Value, Moderate, or Deluxe Disney Resort hotel. While all Walt Disney World Resort hotels offer swimming pools, some of the more expensive properties have water slides, splash pads, and other aquatic play areas.

Unfortunately, one family has no interest in a Walt Disney World hotel pool after a recent incident at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Redditor u/AlternativeAdvice615 claimed that Disney cast members did nothing to protect other guests after their daughter vomited in the water.

“My daughter swallowed some water and threw up in the pool at the Grand Floridian,” the Walt Disney World Resort guest began. “We immediately told the lifeguard and he just said, ‘That happens. Thanks for telling me.’”

The Disney cast member allegedly radioed another Disney Resort hotel employee “but did nothing else.” The guest was “completely appalled.”

“He did not close the pool or ask people to get out,” they explained. “My husband took my daughter to the bathroom and I gathered our stuff up. It was about 10 minutes before whoever he radioed showed up.”

When another Disney cast member arrived, they allegedly didn’t do anything.

“That guy walked around the pool and stared at the water,” the guest wrote. “Seemingly not seeing anything, he shrugged his shoulders and gave the lifeguard a thumbs up. Then he left.”

Disney Parks fans overwhelmingly defended the lifeguard and argued that there wasn’t much that could’ve been done.

“Do you want them to drain the pool?” u/cpasawyer asked. “That’s what the chlorine is for.”

u/tsophies agreed:

“Chunks will go through the filters, chlorine will sort out the rest. How much child wee do you think you’re swimming in? A lot.

Him reviewing the pool was checking to see if there was anything to net – if there wasn’t, it’s just stomach acid and undigested food at the end of the day. At least it wasn’t a floater.”

Walt Disney World Resort operates strict hygiene standards at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney Springs, and the Disney Resort hotels. Notify a Disney cast member with any cleanliness concerns so that custodial can respond appropriately.
